Updates on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

Updates on WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event – New details have surfaced regarding this weekend’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, and the show continues to grow as the John Cena retirement match approaches.

WrestleVotes reported on Wednesday that Jesse “The Body” Ventura is expected to appear at the event in Washington, D.C. Ventura was absent from the previous Saturday Night’s Main Event, but he is now scheduled to return for what is being billed as a major send-off for Cena. “After not appearing at the last Saturday Night’s Main Event, Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura is set for Washington, D.C. this weekend as the big John Cena send-off show approaches,” the outlet wrote on X.

This week’s WWE RAW also added new momentum to the card. AJ Styles and Dragon Lee were announced for a match against Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater, initially promoted on television as a non-title bout. However, WWE.com is now listing the matchup with the World Tag Team Championships on the line, shifting the stakes significantly. WWE’s official preview describes Evans and Slater as two of NXT’s most explosive rising talents, now set to challenge for main roster gold.

Attendance is also climbing. Friday’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter listed 16,483 tickets distributed for the Capital One Center, and according to WrestleTix, that figure rose to 17,366 as of Thursday—an encouraging sign for one of WWE’s marquee special events of the year.

Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place December 13 at 8/7c on Peacock and will open with John Cena’s retirement match against Gunther, the winner of the “Last Time Is Now” tournament.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Card:

  • John Cena vs. Gunther
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi
  • Bayley vs. Sol Ruca
  • World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles & Dragon Lee vs. Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater
