Will Ospreay Undergoes Successful Neck Surgery, Begins Recovery – Will Ospreay has undergone successful surgery to repair herniated discs in his neck and is now beginning a lengthy recovery process. The AEW star confirmed the news himself through Instagram, where he reassured fans that the operation went as planned while acknowledging the challenges of rehabilitation.
“The road will be long, but it’ll be worth it to see you all again. Surgery was a success,” Ospreay wrote in his post. The former two-time AEW International Champion is expected to miss significant time while he heals.
Ospreay revealed earlier this summer that he had been competing with herniated discs pressing against his spinal cord and affecting his nerves. Despite the severity of the condition, he was determined to wrestle one last time in his home country before stepping away for surgery. That opportunity came on August 24 at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door in London, where he took part in the brutal ten-man Lights Out Steel Cage Match. His team earned the victory, but the moment also served as his final appearance before going on hiatus.
In the storyline aftermath, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli of the Death Riders attacked Ospreay, providing an on-screen explanation for his absence.
Prior to the injury, Ospreay was enjoying one of the most celebrated years of his career. Since officially signing with AEW in early 2025, he quickly rose into the top tier of the roster, delivering acclaimed matches against Bryan Danielson, Swerve Strickland, and Kenny Omega. His performances established him as a cornerstone for the company’s future, making the timing of his injury particularly difficult.
For now, Ospreay begins the long road back, with fans and peers alike wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
