WWE has released its official post-WrestleMania 42 press statement, confirming strong business results and record-setting viewership during the Las Vegas weekend. Additional reporting from Front Office Sports has now provided detailed television numbers for the ESPN and ESPN2 simulcasts.
According to Front Office Sports reporter Ryan Glasspiegel, the two-night simulcast delivered solid audiences across both networks. The Saturday broadcast aired on ESPN2 and drew 1.62 million viewers. The Sunday show aired on ESPN and brought in 1.82 million viewers.
The pre-show countdown specials also performed well. The one-hour lead-in on Saturday attracted 676,000 viewers, while Sunday’s countdown show reached 750,000 viewers. These figures add further context to WWE WrestleMania 42 viewership, showing steady interest leading into both nights.
Glasspiegel noted that these numbers do not reflect the full audience. The entire event was also streamed on the ESPN Unlimited app, which carried both nights from start to finish. Viewers who chose that option are not included in the linear television totals.
“This is a pretty good number for WWE/ESPN all things considered,” Glasspiegel wrote. “1) Up against NBA/NHL playoffs. 2) It doesn’t count the viewers on the app. The hardcore viewers would all be watching there so they don’t have to switch over when simulcast ends.”
He also pointed out that Sunday’s broadcast reached a milestone for the company. It marked the largest linear television audience for WWE programming since WWE SmackDown moved away from Fox in 2024.
In its official statement issued on April 22, WWE confirmed that WrestleMania Saturday ranked as the most-watched telecast of the year on ESPN2. WrestleMania Sunday was the most-watched program across the entire weekend on ESPN.
The combined data highlights the strong performance of WWE WrestleMania 42 viewership across both traditional television and streaming platforms, even with major sports competition. Final totals may rise further once ESPN Unlimited streaming figures are made available.
