Xavier Woods Claims He Suffers Neck Injury – Xavier Woods has released a video statement addressing a neck injury he sustained on RAW, putting the blame directly on RAW General Manager Adam Pearce. Wearing a neck brace, Woods accused Pearce of sending someone to attack him as part of a plan to prevent The New Day from getting their WWE Tag Team Championship rematch. While his comments were delivered in storyline fashion, there is some indication that the injury may be legitimate.

The injury took place on this week’s RAW when Woods took a Mexican Destroyer. In his statement, Woods explained the danger of the maneuver, calling it the most hazardous piledriver variation. “This front flip 720 Piledriver adds an incredible amount of velocity and force to the impact and drastically increases the chance for a serious neck injury,” he said.

Staying in storyline, Woods accused Pearce of targeting him with malicious intent. “Adam Pearce sent his masked mercenary to attempt to shatter every bone in my neck, all because he doesn’t want to give The New Day our well deserved rematch for the Tag Team Championship,” he claimed.

Woods also expressed frustration over what he sees as double standards in WWE when it comes to how injured stars are treated. “Randy Orton was assaulted with a pile driver and he was cared for. Cody Rhodes was assaulted with a pile driver and he was cared for,” Woods said. “I was assaulted with a pile driver. Where was my care? Where was my Jason Jordan, where was my Shane Helms? Where was my Jamie Noble? Where was my general manager?”

According to Fightful Select, Woods has been spotted wearing the neck brace outside of WWE events, including at restaurants, suggesting that the injury could be more than just storyline.

Woods ended his message by promising that his tag team partner Kofi Kingston will step up in his absence. “Kofi is going to avenge me by beating Penta so bad that he won’t be able to damage the neck or well being of anyone else on the roster,” he said, asking fans to keep both him and the tag division in their thoughts and prayers.
