Tony Khan has strongly pushed back on a recent rumor involving MVP and Mike Bailey, making it clear he believes the story has no basis in reality.
Speaking on Marking Out with MVP and Dwayne Swayze, Khan addressed claims that MVP had backstage heat with Bailey and dismissed the report outright.
Tony Khan MVP Mike Bailey Rumor Response
Khan did not hold back when discussing the rumor.
“There was that weird thing. What was that thing? That was that BS rumor that you had some personal problem with Speedball, the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” Khan said.
He continued by making it clear that Bailey is well regarded within AEW.
“I have no idea who made that up. Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard,” Khan added. “I’ve never seen anybody have a problem with Speedball. In a wrestling ring, things happen, right? It’s a competitive sport, so people are fighting. I get that. But as far as conducting yourself in a locker room, conducting yourself as an athlete, everybody likes Speedball.”
Praise for Mike Bailey’s Reputation
Khan’s comments emphasized that while in-ring competition can be intense, Bailey’s reputation backstage is positive across the board. He noted that no issues have been reported regarding Bailey’s behavior, reinforcing that the rumor does not reflect reality.
Tony Khan on Wrestling Media
During the same interview, Khan also discussed the broader role of wrestling media, acknowledging that misinformation can sometimes spread but arguing that the overall impact is beneficial.
“I think overall there is more help than hurt,” Khan said. “I think there can be, at times, misinformation or even disinformation where people put incorrect things out into the world in wrestling for their own benefit. I find that sometimes there’s a lot of truth in these stories, and sometimes there’s not. When you know things firsthand, it can definitely be interesting.”
He added that media coverage has played a key role in helping fans discover wrestling from around the world.
“So yeah, I absolutely think there are benefits. You can read about wrestlers, then go out and watch them, and they can be very influential on you. There are definitely positives and negatives, but I think the positives far outweigh the negatives when it comes to wrestling newsletters and wrestling media.”
Clear Denial of Rumor
Khan’s response leaves little room for interpretation, firmly rejecting the claim and reinforcing Bailey’s standing within AEW.
The situation also highlights how quickly unverified reports can circulate, even when they involve well-regarded talent.
