It’s main event time!

When we return from the break, we hear the commentators speed-read through updates to the lineups for next Wednesday’s Dynamite, next Saturday’s Collision, the Grand Slam special on 9/20 and the AEW Wrestle Dream 2023 premium live event on 10/1.

From there, we shoot backstage where Big Bill is interviewed and he gloats about beating down Jon Moxley. It is announced that he will challenge Mox for the International title next Wednesday on Dynamite.

Back inside the arena, Samoa Joe’s theme hits and out comes “The King of Television” for our final semifinal bout in the ongoing AEW Grand Slam Title Eliminator Tournament. He settles in the ring and his music dies down.

Now the theme for Penta El Zero Miedo hits and out he comes. He settles inside the squared circle and his music dies down. The bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with our final match of the evening. The winner of this match meets Roderick Strong in the tourney finals next Wednesday night on Dynamite.

As Joe takes it to Penta in the early goings, we see Roderick Strong and The Kingdom watching on via a monitor backstage. Penta fights back, knocking Joe out to the floor and hitting a big diving splash on the ROH TV Champion to pop the crowd in Cleveland.

From there, we shift gears and head into a mid-match commercial break as the action continues. When we return, we see Joe dominating the action and once again we see Roderick Strong and The Kingdom watching on a monitor backstage.

As the action continues to unfold, we see Penta fire back up on offense. He knocks Joe to the floor and hits a big diving splash. Back in the ring, Joe fights back into the lead and gets his submission-finisher on Penta. He chokes him out for the win.

Winner and ADVANCING to the tournament finals: Samoa Joe

With the win, Joe advances to face Strong in the tourney finals on Dynamite. We see Strong watching on backstage again as Joe celebrates. That’s how this week’s show goes off the air. Thanks for joining us!
