WWE Overestimated Turnout for WrestleMania Kickoff Press Conference – It seems that WWE’s plans for WrestleMania 40 didn’t unfold as anticipated during the Kickoff media event held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Despite expectations that the event would see The Rock and Roman Reigns face off, potentially confirming their WrestleMania match, things took a different turn. Instead, Cody Rhodes made a surprising announcement, declaring his intention to challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 40.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer shed light on WWE’s booking strategy for the event. WWE had reserved the venue weeks in advance, anticipating a large turnout due to The Rock’s appearance. However, the actual attendance fell below expectations, with only an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 attendees, despite The Rock’s presence drawing vocal reactions from the crowd.
Despite the relatively small live audience in Las Vegas, the event garnered significant attention and engagement on various streaming platforms, highlighting its success in reaching a wider audience beyond the arena.
Additionally, while there was speculation that WWE might announce WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas during the event, this did not materialize. It’s suggested that WWE may have held back on this announcement due to the strong media presence in town for the Super Bowl, opting to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the event.
