Backstage News on Jordynne Grace’s NXT Deal and TNA’s Involvement – PWInsider reports that the WWE deal to bring TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace to NXT was finalized three weeks ago. This arrangement was kept so secretive that 99 percent of the TNA Wrestling staff were unaware until her live appearance on the May 29 episode of NXT on USA.

This week’s taped episode of TNA iMPACT On AXS TV had to be adjusted late in the editing process to include a video recap of Grace’s surprise NXT appearance.

For the NXT internal run sheet, WWE listed Alexa Bliss as the person set to be revealed as Roxanne Perez’s challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Battleground 2024. To avoid potential spoilers, WWE even played Lita’s theme music during rehearsals at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, FL.

Perez insisted she not know who the revealed challenger would be until the segment aired live, though some remain skeptical of this claim.

It is believed that NXT will be involved in the TNA Against All Odds 2024 show in Chicago, where Grace will hold an open challenge for the TNA Knockouts Championship, and/or the TNA Slammiversary 2024 show in Montreal.

TNA hopes that NXT involvement and these crossovers will boost ticket sales for their shows. Whether NXT talent will be advertised in advance remains uncertain.

Jordynne Grace is currently under contract with TNA Wrestling until the first quarter of 2025.
