Bully’s fellow ECW veteran Dreamer had some qualms with the spot as well. As someone who’s taken his fair share of dives onto a table, Dreamer was able to offer additional detail on what went wrong.
“If [they] would’ve put the table closer, it’s easier,” Dreamer said. “He jumped out like he was diving into a pool, but you’re not on a diving board [and] you’re not on a solid surface. No matter how many people are holding the ladder, it’s an unsteady surface because it’s on a ring, and a ring will shake. So your jumping point is going to move.” Dreamer shared his memories of how New Jack would calculate a jump once he was on top of the ladder, and points out that they always used to try and make sure they were jumping up and down onto the table instead of trying to leap a distance away.
“I’m glad he is okay,” Dreamer continued. “The worst case scenario, he would’ve just kind of like — an old-school baseball slide, head-first into the floor. Listen — scary? Yes. … It is not anybody in AEW’s responsibility, just like Bully said. It’s all on Sting. I love Sting, I salute Sting because I don’t know if at 64 years old, I’d physically be able to [do what he does].”
