EVIL WWE Name Revealed as Naraku on NXT – WWE has officially revealed the new ring name for EVIL following confusion surrounding earlier reports about his identity change.
It had previously been reported by Fightful Select that EVIL would be using the name “Nox Raijin” in WWE. However, during the May 5 episode of WWE NXT, a new vignette aired confirming that his WWE name will instead be “Naraku.”
The vignette also announced that Naraku will officially make his in-ring WWE debut on May 12.
EVIL WWE name changed to Naraku
Naraku, formerly known as EVIL in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, last competed in January during NJPW’s Road to The New Beginning tour before finishing up with the company later that month.
He first appeared on WWE television during the April 28 episode of NXT, confronting NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo in a surprise appearance.
This week’s vignette provided a clearer look at his WWE presentation and character direction.
During the promo, Naraku reflected on his accomplishments in Japan and made it clear that his focus is now on NXT and its championship scene.
“I made my name in my home country. I faced and beat many great competitors. I won many titles, but the soul of a warrior is never satisfied.”
Naraku then turned his attention directly toward Tony D’Angelo and the NXT Championship.
“NXT is entering a great moment and I am ready to strike. Tony, you sit at the top of NXT with the biggest prize. It is a prize I want.”
He also explained that his previous confrontation with D’Angelo was not intended as a gesture of respect.
“I didn’t present you with a gift. I presented you with a proclamation. One day we will battle for the title. It is written in the rising sun.”
The vignette ended with Naraku formally introducing himself and confirming that his official WWE debut will take place next week.
The reveal marks another major step in WWE’s introduction of the longtime NJPW star, who spent more than a decade building his reputation in Japan through groups including Los Ingobernables de Japon and Bullet Club.
With his first WWE match now scheduled, the company appears to be positioning Naraku quickly within the NXT title picture.
