Ivar Provides Update on Erik’s Recovery

Ivar Provides Update on Erik’s Recovery – Ivar provides an update on his Viking Raiders teammate Erik, who has been recovering from neck surgery.

Erik of the Viking Raiders underwent neck surgery in November 2023, and he has been recovering ever since. During his absence, Ivar has been featured in singles competition, and he has drawn rave reviews.

Speaking with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful ahead of WWE WrestleMania 40, Ivar was asked to comment on how Erik was doing and whether they had been in contact.

“Yeah, I just saw him in the green room. He’s here for some appearances,” Ivar said. “I hadn’t seen him single a little after he got hurt. Actually flew down, he had surgery, I flew to Birmingham to surprise him in the hospital. So I haven’t really seen him since then, so it was nice.

“He’s doing good, it’s slow and steady. Necks are weird, I had my neck injury before. Necks are weird. It just takes time.”

Ivar On His Singles Run

Earlier in the interview, Ivar was asked to comment on the fans’ response to his singles run following Erik’s injury.

“It’s really exciting. I think I talk a lot about, when we got hired, we got hired as a package deal,” Ivar said. “So I’ve always expected that we were just gonna do tag stuff the whole time we’ve been in WWE. I started wrestling in 2001, so I did a bunch of stuff as a singles wrestler before, but when we got hired, we’re a tag team.

“So all those goals I might have had when I was younger as a singles wrestler just [got] pushed way in the back of my head, I wasn’t thinking about it. Now, all of a sudden, he gets hurt, and I get this opportunity, and it’s like, oh yeah, I’m a singles wrestler, I can do this. It’s exciting to see the fans be like, ‘Oh wow, he is a singles wrestler.’”
