David Otunga Muses On Possibility Of AI WWE Matches

With the rise of generative AI, and TKO President Mark Shapiro seemingly confirming that WWE is using artificial intelligence in its creative process, it’s impossible not to speculate about the technology’s future in professional wrestling. Former WWE star, and lawyer, David Otunga did just that in a video on YouTube.

Otunga pondered the possibility of WWE creating AI-generated matches, his example being Bray Wyatt vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage. He wondered if WWE would be able to sell tickets to the match, all without paying the estates of the late stars a dime. It’s no secret that WWE owns rights to a character long after a star leaves the company, which Otunga explained.

“WWE contracts are incredibly broad. I’ve signed one, and after reviewing my WWE contracts and other WWE contracts, WWE acquires extensive rights involving your ring name, your likeness, your persona, your character, performances, intellectual property, merchandise rights,” he said. “Your footage, and in many cases, those rights continue long after the contract ends. Some of them exist in perpetuity. That’s important, because WWE wouldn’t walk into court saying, ‘We’re using Windham Rotunda.’ No. They’re saying, ‘We’re using Bray Wyatt.’ Legally, those are not necessarily the same thing.”

Otunga explained that the estates could argue WWE is no longer exploiting existing content if they create new AI-generated matches or promos. He said most WWE contracts were written long before the existence of AI, and it’s unclear if the rights WWE gets in a contract extend to future technologies.

“Could WWE legally create Bray Wyatt vs. ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage? Maybe,” Otunga said. “Could the estates sue? Absolutely. Would WWE have strong contractual arguments? Yeah, much stronger than most people realize.”

Wrestler And X-Men Star Tyler Mane Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

On Monday, the wrestling world received unfortunate news regarding a member of its fraternity. Taking to Facebook, retired wrestler Tyler Mane posted a reel, revealing that he had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and was beginning chemotherapy. Mane revealed he would be documenting his treatment in the coming days and weeks, in the hopes that it would help raise awareness for men diagnosed with breast cancer. He also provided a reel statement, where he shared more thoughts.

“Yep. I have breast cancer,” Mane said. “And yep, it’s super rare. Only 1% of breast cancers are men. I’ll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean it’s kind of embarrassing. But then I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in advanced stages BECAUSE it’s not talked about and not looked for. In fact, my doctors all dismissed it and it was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early. So let’s start talking about it! 1 in 755 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and if caught early, it’s VERY treatable. Time to answer the Wake Up Call! Like, Save, Share, Comment let’s spread the word!”

For many people, Mane is best known for his acting career, with his most prominent roles including his portrayals of Sabertooth in “X-Men” and “Deadpool & Wolverine,” legendary villain Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” and its sequel “Halloween II,” and Ajax in “Troy.” Prior to acting, however, Mane competed as a wrestler for eight years. Under several different alias’, he competed in promotions such as WCW, Portland Wrestling, and UWF in the United States, New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling in Japan, and CMLL in Mexico.

WWE Raw Viewership & Ratings Report, 6/1/2026

Viewership for “WWE Raw” continues to fall, even as the 2026 King and Queen of the Ring tournaments kicked off the June 1 edition of the red brand. The show, the first following WWE Clash in Italy, also saw Jacob Fatu pledge his allegiance to World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, and acknowledge him as his “Tribal Chief.”

According to Wrestlenomics, with data from Netflix, the June 1 episode of “WWE Raw” drew 2 million viewers over a seven day period, down from previous week’s 2.5 million. Over six million hours of the show were viewed, an increase after that metric had dropped following the “Raw” after WrestleMania 42.

“Raw” was ranked ninth for the week globally, almost falling out of the Netflix ranking, among English television shows. It ranked eighth in the United States for the week. The top three shows in the U.S. were “Michael Jackson: The Verdict,” “The Witness,” and season two of “The Four Seasons.” “Lawmen: Bass Reeves” and the first season of “The Four Seasons” followed “Raw” in the weekly domestic ranking.

The show opened with the acknowledgement ceremony between Fatu, Reigns, and the Usos, with the “Samoan Werewolf” raising his one up alongside the rest of the family. Oba Femi defeated Carmelo Hayes, Solo Sikoa, and Intercontinental Champion Penta in a first round four-way match of the King of the Ring tournament, and IYO SKY was the first woman to advance in the Queen of the Ring. She defeated Giulia, Lash Legend, and Roxanne Perez.

Elsewhere, Sol Ruca found her first challenger for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship in Lya Valkyria. The main event saw Seth Rollins defeat Bron Breakker with the stomp.

Fabian Aichner Pulls Back Curtain On TNA Signing

Former WWE star Giovanni Vinci, now known by his real name, Fabian Aichner, made his surprise debut in TNA Wrestling at the end of the May 14 edition of “TNA iMPACT.” He hadn’t been seen on television since a September 2024 episode of “WWE SmackDown,” and he departed the company the following February. Aichner recently sat down with “The Takedown” to pull back the curtain on his signing with TNA, which he called a “perfect fit.”

“I think it’s pretty well known that I took a little bit of time off over the course of the last year. It was quite the rollercoaster toward the end, and the whole point was to recharge the batteries a little bit,” Aichner said “It just so happens sometimes things were just pointing to TNA. A friend of mine in Germany pointed out TNA has been improving their product greatly, and I agree with that… My former coach, Matt Bloom, was cool to put me in contact with Tommy Dreamer.”

Aichner said he’s always had a great relationship with Dreamer and TNA just felt like an organic fit. He praised the quality of the company’s shows and matches, as well as recent signings. Aichner also said TNA uses the same model of ring he first started in, so it helped make him feel right at home. After over a year between appearances, he was glad wrestling fans still remembered him.

“Even with my real name popping up on the screen, them having realized who it is, giving me the reaction that I received, it was definitely confirmation that it was the right move and it did wonders for me, man,” he said.

Bully Ray Doesn’t Think Fans Are ‘Emotionally Invested’ In This Babyface WWE Star

Bully Ray also suggested that Knight is likely unhappy with his current position on “Raw,” stating that he’s struggled to find his place on the main roster over the past year and referred to the viral moment in “WWE Unreal” when he was reprimanded by Triple H at Money In The Bank.

“I’m sure he’s very frustrated right now behind the scenes as in nothing is really clicking, nothing is really working. I’m not able to gain any traction. Every time I think I’m on to something, something goes wrong and it will mess with your head. And like I’ve said, I don’t watch ‘Unreal,’ but I’ve seen the clips on social media, LA Knight coming back through Gorilla after that ladder match getting reamed by Triple H and having that thousand yard stare and just looking off into the distance like man, what is it going to take for me? And I don’t know what it’s going to take for LA Knight … he’s in the same place all the time.”

Bully continued to share that he had high hopes for the former U.S Champion ahead of WrestleMania when Logan Paul and Bronson Reed brutally attacked a defiant Knight on “Raw,” explaining that it seemed like WWE had positioned him to gain fan interest upon his return from the beatdown. Instead, Bully feels that Knight took one step forward, then one step back, and believes that he should turn heel in the near future.
