Bully Ray Speculates On Oba Femi’s Creative Path From WWE SummerSlam To WrestleMania

After losing to Brock Lesnar at Clash in Italy, many predicted that Oba Femi and Lesnar would meet again for a third time, with SummerSlam the likely destination. Now, however, some are beginning to wonder if WWE may hold that match off, especially as Femi competes for a World Title shot in the King of the Ring tournament. That was the case on “Busted Open Radio” Tuesday, where co-hosts Dave LaGreca and Bully Ray pondered WWE waiting to do a third Lesnar-Femi match until WrestleMania next year, allowing Femi to instead win a World Title in the meantime.

While Bully did agree with LaGreca that holding off Femi and Lesnar till later could work out in the long-run, he doesn’t know if that would be WWE’s thinking. As a result, Bully believes the WWE mindset would still be for Femi and Lesnar to have their final encounter at SummerSlam, and use it to springboard Femi towards a big push throughout the fall and December, setting him up for further WrestleMania glory.

“I would think that they would have Oba defeat Brock at SummerSlam,” Bully said. “Keep him hot as they can, have him win the Rumble, and then win at WrestleMania. Cause now you have…Oba Femi would have defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Oba Femi would have defeated and retired Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Oba Femi would have won the Royal Rumble. Oba Femi would have won the World Championship at WrestleMania.”

WWE NXT Star Calls Out Natalya Following Dungeon Attack

A “WWE NXT” star has called out WWE veteran Natalya following an attack on the “Low Key Legend” at the Dungeon. Jaida Parker took her feud with Natalya to the next level on Tuesday when she showed up to the place where Nattie trains future talent and attacked her in front of her students. Natalya posted a video of the attack to X (formerly Twitter), and after she involved “NXT” head Shawn Michaels, Parker responded with a video of her own.

“What was that, Nattie? I’m lower than a beginner, right?” Parker ranted in her video, shot from the inside of her car. “Then what does that make you, because I walked up into the Dungeon, you said I could never step foot up into, and I dropped your a** in the middle of it in front of your students. Hopefully this gets your a** in the middle of the ring with me because understand, it may be your house, but it is my rules. Class dismissed.”

Parker mentioned in the caption of the post that Natalya “ran to management,” so Parker tagged both WWE COO Paul “Triple H” Levesque, as well as Michaels. The “Heartbreak Kid,” who is very active on X when it comes to “NXT,” reposted the video of the attack, but didn’t comment. Though she’s not advertised yet for the show, it appears as though Natalya will confront Parker on Tuesday’s edition of “NXT.”

Following a losing streak, Parker had been confronting Natalya on episodes of “NXT.” She defeated one of Nattie’s “WWE LFG: Legends & Future Greats” students, Layla Diggs, on the May 26 edition of the show.

WWE HOFer Booker T Praises New NXT Stars

Following WrestleMania 42, an influx of new talent took to the WWE Performance Center and made their television debuts on “WWE NXT.” A variety of new stars have been making big splashes on the show across different divisions, including Lizzy Rain, Mason Rook, and Tristan Angels.

After last week’s episode of “NXT” that saw Kam Hendrix challenge NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, “NXT” commentator and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T heaped praise on some newcomers, including Hendrix, his former student on “WWE LFG: Legends & Future Greats,” on his “Hall of Fame” podcast.

“I was impressed with the kid. Kid went out there and made me proud,” he said. “[Hendrix] seemed like he was just so ready for the moment…. He got intro’ed and then [the show] went to commercial break. The whole time we’re in commercial break, he was animated. He was just so in the moment of being in his first main event on ‘NXT’ and he handled it very, very well. Of course, me as a coach, I’m going to say there are things that could have been done better, but Kam went out there and did a really good job.”

Every week on “The Hall of Fame,” Booker T reveals his “Fave Five” on “NXT” for the week. His current list, which includes Lola Vice, Jaida Parker, Kelani Jordan, Tatum Paxley, and Jackson Drake, didn’t change, but there are other stars he’s now keeping his eye one.

“That kid, Romeo Moreno, this kid is showing me something,” he said. “Is he going to make the Five? That’s another story. I want to see Naraku, I want to see exactly what he brings to the table.”

Kay Lee Ray (Fka Alba Fyre) Confirms Her WWE Contract Expired

Most of the talents affected by the latest wave of WWE departures were reportedly outright released from the company. In the case of former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kay Lee Ray (fka Alba Fyre), however, her contract was set to expire in the near future anyway. Ray confirmed as such in a new interview with “Daily Star.”

“There seems to be a pattern with this. My contract was up. I knew it was coming up and I had the decision of whether I wanted to stay or not,” she said. “I know some other people got fired and they have the 90 days clause. Because mine was just a contract ending, it means I didn’t have the 90 days. I was able to come and do this and do it as like kind of surprise, but I know it wasn’t really a surprise. But yeah, really glad it worked out this way.”

Following the recent expiration of her WWE deal, Ray returned to the independent wrestling circuit as a free agent on June 5, specifically taking on fellow Scot Molly Spartan at Pro-Wrestling EVE’s History Makers/Rule Breakers event in London. Spartan initially laid out an open challenge, which Ray went on to win.

Ray first popped up in WWE as a competitor in the inaugural Mae Young Classic in 2017. Two years later, she inked a deal that brought her to the “WWE NXT UK” brand, where she became the longest reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion. Ray eventually moved stateside to be a part of “NXT,” then WWE’s main roster. The final year of her WWE career saw her pledging her allegiance to former Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green as a member of the Secret Hervice on “WWE SmackDown.”

David Otunga Muses On Possibility Of AI WWE Matches

With the rise of generative AI, and TKO President Mark Shapiro seemingly confirming that WWE is using artificial intelligence in its creative process, it’s impossible not to speculate about the technology’s future in professional wrestling. Former WWE star, and lawyer, David Otunga did just that in a video on YouTube.

Otunga pondered the possibility of WWE creating AI-generated matches, his example being Bray Wyatt vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage. He wondered if WWE would be able to sell tickets to the match, all without paying the estates of the late stars a dime. It’s no secret that WWE owns rights to a character long after a star leaves the company, which Otunga explained.

“WWE contracts are incredibly broad. I’ve signed one, and after reviewing my WWE contracts and other WWE contracts, WWE acquires extensive rights involving your ring name, your likeness, your persona, your character, performances, intellectual property, merchandise rights,” he said. “Your footage, and in many cases, those rights continue long after the contract ends. Some of them exist in perpetuity. That’s important, because WWE wouldn’t walk into court saying, ‘We’re using Windham Rotunda.’ No. They’re saying, ‘We’re using Bray Wyatt.’ Legally, those are not necessarily the same thing.”

Otunga explained that the estates could argue WWE is no longer exploiting existing content if they create new AI-generated matches or promos. He said most WWE contracts were written long before the existence of AI, and it’s unclear if the rights WWE gets in a contract extend to future technologies.

“Could WWE legally create Bray Wyatt vs. ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage? Maybe,” Otunga said. “Could the estates sue? Absolutely. Would WWE have strong contractual arguments? Yeah, much stronger than most people realize.”
