WWE HOFer Jeff Jarrett Discusses Business Differences Between WWE And NJPW

Following New Japan Pro Wrestling’s sale from Bushiroad to TV Asahi and Ameba late last month, many have been wondering what it means for the promotion’s future, creatively and businesswise. Meanwhile, WWE Hall of Famer and AEW star Jeff Jarrett is more focused on what led to the sale. Discussing that very point on “My World,” Jarrett first began by explaining to listeners that NJPW business philosophy was far different from American promotions like AEW and WWE.

“From a business perspective, New Japan is a 180 from WWE,” Jarrett said. “And when I say that, New Japan is driven by live events. WWE is driven by rights fees. No longer PPV, it’s Netflix, ESPN are the top two.”

After noting how this deal put NJPW and several other Japanese promotions under one umbrella, he went back to his point regarding NJPW’s focus on the live event business. Without knowing all the information, Jarrett guessed that this sale was a strong sign that NJPW’s live event business hadn’t quite recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, and could’ve prompted Bushiroad to unload it.

“For them to let it go for $30 million, Conrad, I think that just kind of says, and look, again, I don’t know the ins and outs of there…but that number to me was shockingly low without us knowing,” Jarrett said. “But I think it’s very telling, in that the live event business has not come back. They don’t project it’s going to come back anytime in the near future. New Japan World has not created a substantial revenue stream. To me, it kind of feels like some taxes were paid and Abema and the new group, I feel like they took it over.”

Nikki Bella Missed WWE PLE Due To Kindergarten Graduation

For most of their careers, the Bella Twins have travelled everywhere together, but this past weekend, Nikki Bella was unable to make the trip for Clash In Italy and be present for a pop up event with her sister in Tuscany because of a family obligation.

On Monday, Nikki Bella revealed that her 5-year-old son Matteo, whom she shares custody of with her ex-husband Artem Chigvintsev, was graduating the day after she would be returning from Italy and was afraid that a flight delay would cause her to miss it.

“It was hard because I was going to fly in. It was going to be four or five nights. And then my flight home, it was like I was making it back the night before graduation. And then every night I just kept having anxiety in the middle of the night like, what if my flight gets delayed? What if it gets cancelled and I don’t make graduation and Matteo and I have been on just such a long journey and they’re going to have Matteo MC the graduation and I just was like, I have to just be home and not take that chance to miss it. And all the things Brie’s doing in Tuscany made it hard because you’re like, I want to but I know I can go do that again and Matteo isn’t going to graduate kindergarten again,” she said on the “Nikki & Brie Show.”

Bella has yet to be seen on WWE television since April, as the two-time Divas Champion is recovering from an ankle injury that caused her to miss WrestleMania 42 with her sister. In order to pivot, Paige returned to WWE and tagged with Brie Bella instead at WrestleMania where they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Backstage Update On Possibility Of Mick Foley Wrestling In AEW

Mick Foley is “All Elite” following AEW Double or Nothing 2026 as the WWE Hall of Famer is now an official member of the AEW broadcast team. However, like all wrestlers who have been retired for sometime, there’s always that temptation to have one more match, and considering Foley never had an actual retirement match, could the “Hardcore Legend” step inside an AEW ring? The answer, is maybe.

Foley himself recently said that stranger things have happened when asked about the possibility of having one more match, stating that cinematic matches have opened the door for wrestlers to have that elusive final match without having to punish their bodies even further. These comments led Fightful Select asking AEW sources about Foley wrestling for the company, with their response being revealed on WrestleVotes Radio. According to AEW sources, Foley has talked himself into wrestling one more match, and if it were to happen, it would happen in All Elite Wrestling.

Those same sources also revealed that AEW President Tony Khan would be eager to book the match, but it would entirely depend on whether Foley could get himself medically cleared to compete. Foley’s health was what inevitably forced him to retire in 2012 after not being cleared to enter into a feud with Dean Ambrose in WWE, now better known to AEW fans as Jon Moxley. Foley has talked about potentially having some sort of death match with Moxley in the past, but one man who has actively pushed to wrestle Foley if he were to get cleared is the current AEW World Champion MJF, with AEW sources even noting that MJF has wanted to work a program with the WWE Hall of Famer since before he was signed to AEW.

FKA Andre Chase Reveals New Name Post-WWE NXT Release

At the end of April, a slew of WWE talents were released from the top of the card to the recruits. Since then, several talents like Dexter Lumis have promoted the date they’ll be able to take bookings again. One released Superstar, Nikki Cross, has purchased a wrestling promotion alongside her husband and former WWE Superstar, Killian Dane (Big Damo).

One of the more surprising roster cuts was Andre Chase. He became a beloved wrestler to many of the “NXT” faithful as the leader of Chase U. Since leaving “NXT”, he has graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management. On Thursday, he announced his new name on social media. He will now be known as “The Professor” Andre Chance. Chance also announced that he is available for bookings, signings, meet and greets, and seminars. “I want you to put the word out there we back up!! Want Professor Chance to bring the tailgate to your town? Tag your local/favorite promotions below and let’s get to work!”

Chance was a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion with Chase U members, Duke Hudson and Ridge Holland, respectively.

Update On Frustrations With WWE’s Handling Of Liv Morgan And Dom Mysterio

This is one of those reports where I question what exactly the source was thinking when they decided to leak this news. Let’s again repeat the thrust of it all; there’s internal frustration in WWE over Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio’s lack of usage since WrestleMania 42. That’s all well and dandy, except for one problem; who exactly is responsible for Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio twiddling their thumbs and having no direction? I’m not a genius, but it would seem to me like that’s WWE. I get it; this probably isn’t Triple H complaining to Wrestlevotes about not pushing Morgan and Mysterio enough, but it doesn’t change the fact that this story paints WWE as Tim Robinson in the hot dog costume, wondering how such a thing could happen.

And it gets even sillier after that, because the source also clearly tries to paint it as a situation where “yeah, there’s frustration, but don’t worry, they’re going to get more involved soon enough.” Great; that still doesn’t explain why it took WWE over a month to figure this out. There was really no room for Mysterio on Noches de la Grandes? There was no time to fit him in on “Raw?” Morgan really couldn’t have found someone else to have a short program with before Vaquer returned? Spare me. This is why I always laugh at reports like these; it’s the promotion trying to explain a mistake they’ve made, only you’ll realize they did if you think long enough about it. That brings me to the most important point here; if WWE is so frustrated about Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio’s inactiveness, why don’t they, I don’t know, do something about it? They’ve always been able to, which makes their lack of direction not the fault of changed plans or waiting for the summer, but WWE not having a firm creative direction.
