Bully Ray Says AEW Continues Letting Fans Down After High-Quality PPVs

Bully Ray continued by revealing that someone in a position of power within AEW had recently sent him a text thanking him for speaking so highly of AEW in recent weeks. This led to the WWE Hall of Famer explaining that he tries to speak positively about every wrestling company, and is always happy to praise AEW when the company does something good. However, the reason why he wants AEW to celebrate its own victories more often is because he experienced first-hand what that can do for a company.

“I experienced it first-hand with ECW,” Bully said. “I’m not saying AEW needs to be the next ECW, I’m saying you can learn from some of the things that ECW did really well, and there has never been a fanbase in history that has been as loyal to a company as ECW fans were to ECW, by far. So all I’m saying is AEW, please celebrate the victories with your fans. Don’t allow them to forget about it because you just move on. Start off your show by going ‘Hey, two nights ago we did this and we’re going to continue to do this, and we appreciate you being by our side.”

Bully rounded out by saying that the fans need more chances to prove how happy they are to be AEW fans, and opening “Dynamite” with a rallying cry that could have been over the top if they chose to would have been the perfect feel-good moment to get current fans excited, and newer fans even more engaged. Instead, the fact that the show moved on so quickly made him almost forget how good Double or Nothing was as a whole.

Former Divas Champion Layla Recalls ‘Trial And Error’ Of Early Days In WWE

Former WWE star Layla eventually found success in the company’s Divas division, going on to become a two-time champion after holding both the Women’s Championship and the Divas Championship. However, her early days in WWE weren’t always easy, as Layla recounted during an interview with Sportshadow Wrestling.

“It wasn’t so much that I wasn’t Americanized enough, it wasn’t anything like that – or I’m saying that I was too British or anything like that. … It was the fact that I didn’t understand any of the wrestling language,” she explained, clarifying that the wrestling world was still unfamiliar to her. “You have to learn by trial and error or watch other people mess up and know: ‘I can’t do that.'”

While this was the most difficult thing for her in pro wrestling and WWE, Layla added that once she got backstage and there were many young talent who resented her for winning her way into the sport through the “Divas Search.”

“When I’d won that money, there [were] so many wrestlers, who were not top names, who were like: ‘I’m training everyday, I’ve trained my whole life, I’ve done this, I’ve done that, and then you come in and you win that kind of money?’ I had to adapt to that,” she expressed. At the same time, Layla admitted that she understands why they all felt that way at the time, though it did succeed in making her feel guilty about her success.

AEW’s Adam Copeland Discusses His WWE Judgment Day Run: ‘Too Much, Too Soon’

Now that Adam Copeland is signed to AEW, it can be easy to forget that he was the Judgment Day’s original leader, having formed the WWE faction with Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest in 2022. Despite the Judgment Day being a fresh idea for WWE, Copeland went from a legend who returned from one of the most serious injuries in recent memory, to a heel faction leader that was kicked out of the group within just two months. Four years later, the Judgment Day is still in tact despite its overhauls, but during a recent interview with “Westwood One Sports Night,” Copeland admitted that it was a major mistake to make him the leader of the first version of the faction.

“If The Undertaker were to come out now, would it work? I don’t know. Right? But I still truly believe if you fully commit to something as the performer and you go all in, then there’s no questions at least,” he explained. “I got all day for people who are going to try and recreate themselves. From my personal standpoint, I’ve always tried to make it more of a gradual character shift. So, it is more of a shift than a change because the one time I did that was the creation of Judgment Day and it was too fast. It was too much, too soon … I was a babyface that they saw fight back from a neck surgery he’s not supposed to fight back from. Then I’m working AJ [Styles] who’s just turned babyface.”

Today’s rendition of the Judgment Day doesn’t consist of any original members, with Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez being the five current wrestlers in the group.
