MJF Says AEW Has the Best Wrestling on TV in 2026

MJF is making his stance clear in the ongoing WWE vs AEW debate. Speaking with Ariel Helwani ahead of his Title vs Hair match at AEW Double or Nothing, he said AEW is delivering the best wrestling on television and that anyone still claiming otherwise in 2026 simply is not watching the product.

MJF will challenge AEW World Champion Darby Allin on May 24 at Louis Armstrong Stadium. If he loses, he will be shaved bald. The event has already distributed 13,848 tickets per WrestleTix, putting it on pace to become one of AEW’s biggest‑grossing domestic pay‑per‑views.

During the interview, MJF praised the depth of AEW’s roster and said the company’s in‑ring output is unmatched. He explained, “We have an embarrassment of riches right now in the AEW locker room. I’m not gonna sit here and name every single name because it’s actually exhausting how many incredible professional wrestlers we have. We have, bar none, the best wrestling on television. It’s not even close. Sorry. Now, WWE has incredible wrestlers, they’re putting on great matches. TNA has great wrestlers, they’re putting on great matches. NXT has great wrestlers, they’re putting on great matches. But I can look in this camera and say point blank I feel we put on the best matches. I feel that it’s not just a tagline ‘Where The Best Wrestle.’ It’s a fact.”

He then addressed the lingering “AEW bad” narrative that has persisted online since the company’s backstage controversies in 2022 and 2023. He said, “It’s gotten to the point now because of the black eyes that were created in the past, it was ‘AEW bad’ for a while just cause after the black eyes. Now there was a reason to say ‘AEW bad’ because some bullshit was going on. In 2026, there’s nothing to say, man. We’re putting on great show after great show. We were up in houses year over year in most territories in the US. Pay-per-view buyrates are up, and I’m about to be in the main event of the second biggest grossing domestic pay-per-view in the history of our company.”

The “black eyes” reference points to incidents such as the CM Punk–Young Bucks fight at All Out 2022 and the Punk–Jack Perry altercation at All In 2023, both of which shaped public perception of AEW for months.

MJF said the current online pushback against AEW criticism comes from fans who actually watch the show. He explained, “What I think is so cool, when you go to social media now, if there is a post that says ‘AEW bad’, it used to just be like, ‘Yeah, you’re right, screw AEW. I’m just gonna stick with my TNA, my MLW, my WWE, what have you.’ Now it’s like, ‘You’re not watching the show.’ Just say you’re not watching the show because you’re clearly not watching the show. ‘Oh, I watch the show.’ Okay, what’s happening? ‘Bullshit.’ Oh, alright, so you don’t watch the show and that’s fine.”

He closed by saying AEW is not trying to appeal to everyone, but the product is thriving because of its match quality and storytelling. He said, “Now I’m not gonna sit here and pretend that our show is for everybody. No product is for everybody, but we are white hot right now because we’re having incredible matches, we have incredible rivalries, and we put on incredible pay-per-views. And I genuinely feel that we have the best wrestling show weekly.”

WWE NXT Results 5/19 – Two Championships Up For Grabs, Keanu Carver Faces Tate Wilder

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s live coverage for “WWE NXT” on May 19, 2026, coming to you live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida!

Tatum Paxley will be putting the Women’s North American Championship on the line on television for the first time since retaining against Blake Monroe in a Casket Match at Week Two of the “NXT” Revenge special on April 21 as she defends against Lizzy Rain. With Paxley and Rain having scored a win against Zaria and Nikkia Lyons in tag team competition during last Tuesday’s episode of “NXT” after Zaria left Lyons to fend for herself at ringside, Paxley told Rain later that same night backstage that she had decided to grant her a title shot as the pair and Shiloh Hill discussed their mutual disdain for Tristian Angels.

Another title will be on the line tonight, as Saquon Shugars and Dion Lennox of DarkState challenge Vanity Project’s Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor for their NXT Tag Team Championship. Moments after Smokes and Baylor’s stablemate Jackson Drake defeated Noam Dar in singles competition last Tuesday, DarkState confronted Vanity Project to make it clear that they wanted a shot at their title. Amid the rising tensions between Shugars and Lennox over the course of the last few weeks due to Shugars feeling like Lennox was prioritizing his own career over DarkState, Osiris Griffin and Cutler James told the pair that they would be the ones competing in tonight’s match.

Tate Wilder may have cost himself, Sean Legacy, and EK Prosper a Six Man Tag Team Match against BirthRight last Tuesday thanks to his refusal to tag out of the match as a means of trying to prove himself. Later that same night, he asked “NXT” General Manager Robert Stone for a match and informed him that his opponent would be Keanu Carver given that Carver had interrupted the meeting between the pair. Tonight, said match between Carver and Wilder is set to take place.

NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo will be joining forces with North American Champion Myles Borne to take on Mason Rook and Kam Hendrix as of last Tuesday’s show in tag team competition. With Rook having become an official member of the “NXT” roster when he signed put pen-to-paper last Tuesday, D’Angelo crashed the contract signing to tell Rook that he had gotten his attention. Hendrix looked to blindside D’Angelo from behind, but D’Angelo saw Hendrix coming and Rook took out both men with a moonsault off the top rope.

Additionally, the aforementioned Angels will be competing in his first match on “NXT” after popping up on the show over the past couple of weeks in videos, backstage, and at ringside.

WWE Announces Major Change To Becky Lynch/Sol Ruca SNME Match

Sol Ruca vs. Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch was made official for Saturday Night’s Main Event during Monday’s edition of “WWE Raw,” but Lynch seemed to initially refuse to put her title on the line until Ruca proved herself following a handful of losses up on her call-up to the main roster from “WWE NXT.” Now, however, it looks as though Lynch will be putting her title on the line, as announced by WWE on its Instagram account.

On Tuesday, WWE posted the match graphic featuring Lynch and Ruca, advertising the bout as for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. The addition of the title stipulation means there are now four championship matches out of five bouts set for the card on Saturday.

“@beckylynchwwe puts the Women’s #ICTitle on the line this weekend at #SNME against @solrvca!” WWE captioned the graphic. Despite tagging Lynch in the post, “The Man” has not responded in-character, though she shared the graphic to her own Instagram story. On Monday night, she posted to Threads and called herself a “fighting champion.”

The match will be Ruca’s first shot at main roster gold since she was called up to the red brand following WrestleMania 42. She is a previous Women’s North American Champion and WWE Women’s Speed Champion.

Men’s Intercontinental Champion Penta will also defend his title at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he takes on Ethan Page. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Brie Bella and Paige will take on the Irresistible Forces and WWE World Tag Team Champions Logan Paul and Austin Theory will defend against the Street Profits, as well. The only non-title match is a six-woman tag featuring WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss against Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab.

AEW Crossover Star Mistico Reportedly Injured After Appearing On Crutches At CMLL Show

As a lucha libre fan, I think I’m saying the obvious when I say that this Mistico injury news isn’t good at all. I would stop short of saying it’s a massive problem, as CMLL business has continued to do fine even when Mistico isn’t around for whatever reason (FantasticaMania, AEW, MLW, or New Japan dates), but that’s a small comfort. Mistico is as important to CMLL and lucha libre as Roman Reigns is to WWE business; there is a reason many had Mistico as the wrestler of the year in 2025 after all. And this injury couldn’t come at a worst time, given that CMLL is about to start running shows on Wednesday next month, hoping to get World Cup fans into Arena Mexico, and was going to rely on Mistico to help fill cards. And that’s not even taking into account the fact that AEW has Forbidden Door next month (which Mistico was likely going to be featured on) or that he’s a New Japan Champion right now.

So yeah; this is less than ideal for everyone involved right now. If there’s any blessing in disguise I suppose, it’s that Mistico will slow down a bit, something that was sort of necessary given he was working one of the craziest schedules in wrestling today. In the last three years alone, Mistico wrestled a combined 650 matches, averaging approximately 217 matches a year, and was on pace to get close to that, or surpass that, again this year. Last year alone, Mistico wrestled 246 matches, and that was despite him missing most of March with an injury. If anyone deserved a rest, it’s this guy; you just wish it was under better circumstances. Alas, it isn’t, and if Mistico is forced to miss a month or more, his value to CMLL, AEW, New Japan, and other promotions could be proven again, unfortunately in a way that no one wanted.

Adam Copeland Open to AEW Creative Role After In‑Ring Career

Adam Copeland Open to AEW Creative Role After In‑Ring Career

Adam Copeland says he is open to taking on a creative or backstage position in AEW once his in‑ring career ends. Speaking with Westwood One Sports Night ahead of his AEW Tag Team Championship match at Double or Nothing, Copeland said he loves the AEW environment and would be willing to discuss a long‑term role with Tony Khan when the time comes.

Copeland and Christian Cage will challenge FTR in an I Quit Match for the AEW Tag Team Titles on May 24 at Louis Armstrong Stadium. If they lose, they will no longer be allowed to team together.

During the interview, Copeland said the idea of staying with AEW after retirement is something he would consider, depending on what the company needs. He explained, “That’s up to Tony and what he may need. And that’s stuff that I don’t know. Like, I don’t know, where would you need me? And then I think we’d just discuss it at that time and go, ‘Okay, that sounds like fun.’ Or, ‘I just want to sit on my deck or go jet skiing or kayaking or something.’ I don’t know. But I’m a creative person, and I know that no matter what, I’ll need to scratch that creative itch, whether that’s just purely acting or maybe it’s helping with creative in AEW and still continuing in acting. I don’t know. But I do know, in terms of the workplace, I love going there. So it wouldn’t be like twist my arm to keep me around.”

At 52, Copeland has become more open about what life after wrestling might look like. He has often spoken about being forced into retirement in WWE in 2011 due to a neck injury, and how that exit never felt like a choice. His AEW run, however, is something he expects to end on his own terms.

Copeland also discussed his role as a veteran in the AEW locker room. He said he enjoys helping younger talent who are committed to improving. He explained, “Man, I got all day for the Darby Allins and the Will Ospreays and the guys who really just want to crack this code. And there really is no fully cracking it, right? Just great attitudes, great work ethic, yeah, I got all day for people like that. And then also, take any advice for what it’s worth, but you have to put it in your spin cycle and make it you. And you have to feel comfortable with it. You’re probably going to get told 20 different things by 20 different people. So then it’s deciphering who do you want to listen to, who has the type of advice that you relate to.”

He praised the AEW locker room for its mix of experience levels, saying, “The great thing is, it’s a really fun locker room in that you can look and there’s Dustin Rhodes and there’s Griff Garrison. Like, that is opposite ends of the experience spectrum, right? And that’s a good thing. It really, really is.”

Copeland joined AEW after finishing his second WWE run in 2023. He has held the TNT Championship and challenged for the AEW World Championship during his time under Tony Khan.
