Garrett Borden, Son Of Sting, Makes Pro Wrestling Debut At AEW Star’s Indie Event

Over the last year, many within wrestling have been keeping an eye on Steven Borden, the song of wrestling icon and AEW star Sting. The former college football player made his in-ring debut last fall after training with AEW stars such as Darby Allin and FTR, and has since worked several dark matches for AEW and indie promotions such as DEFY and Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling. And it appears his foray into wrestling has inspired his brother, Garrett, to give it a shot himself.

In an early Monday morning post on X, account JJA Sport Studio posted video footage of Garrett Borden working what appears to be his first wrestling match recently for the Rhodes Wrestling Association, a Texas indie promotion run by AEW star Dustin Rhodes. The one and a half minute clip showed Garrett wrestling Brandon Barretta, who he hit with a clothesline and a series of Sting Splashes, before defeating Barretta with a Torture Rack style Samoan Drop, perhaps done in homage to his father’s former tag partner Lex Luger.

There had been no hints that Garrett would be following his father or brother into the wrestling business, or had begun training, prior to this match. It’s unclear whether Garrett has been training with Rhodes, who also operates the Rhodes Wrestling Academy, though his wife, Kaetlyn Borden, trained under Rhodes at the school, and competed under the name Jael for the Rhodes Wrestling Association, Ring of Honor, and other promotions before taking a behind-the-scenes job with AEW.

Garrett’s previous involvement in wrestling included being part of an angle involving Sting and Jeff Jarrett in TNA back in the mid-2000s, and supporting his father during Sting’s retirement tour in 2024, which led to him and Steven being attacked by the Young Bucks. The duo got their revenge during Sting’s retirement match at Revolution, with Steven dressing as Wolfpack Sting and Garrett as Surfer Sting to attack the Bucks at the start of the match.

AEW Dynamite Viewership & Ratings Report, 5/13/2026

Throughout most of this year, “AEW Dynamite” has managed to draw over 600,000 viewers per week, but since the beginning of May the program’s totals have started to dip below that threshold, with last Wednesday’s episode recording the lowest viewership for the show since January.

According to Wrestlenomics and Programming Insider, “Dynamite” averaged 585,000 viewers and posted a 0.10 in the key 18-49 demographic on Wednesday. When comparing both categories to the week prior, total viewership marginally declined by 1%, while the 18-49 demo stayed even at 0.10. In addition, after facing stiff competition from NBA and NHL playoff action, “Dynamite” still managed to rank seventh for the night on cable in the 18-49 demo with game 5 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons topping the charts with a 1.56. Overall, “Dynamite’s” average viewership has fallen by 7% over the past four weeks.

Although “Dynamite’s” numbers have decreased over the last month, the program’s viewership has improved by 2% when comparing it to last year’s second quarter totals. However, the same cannot be said for the 18-49 demo, as “Dynamite” continues to struggle to draw younger viewers, with the category being down by 38% since May 2025.

This Wednesday, “Dynamite” will have the opportunity to bounce back with the episode being the go home show for Double Or Nothing this upcoming Sunday. This week’s episode will also be a live three-hour special of “Dynamite” and “AEW Collision” featuring matches such as Katsuyori Shibata vs. Will Osperay, Jon Moxley vs. Kyle O’Reilly and Darby Allin vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey for the AEW World Championship.

TNA’s Santino Marella: WWE Clash In Italy Appearance Would Be ‘Full Circle Moment’

WWE is just weeks away from hosting Clash in Italy, the first premium live event the country has ever had there. If there’s anyone more eager to return to where his career officially took off, it’s none other than TNA’s current on-screen Director of Authority and former WWE Superstar standout, Santino Marella.

Following a fictitious poster a fan made of the upcoming PLE that featured Marella with the caption of, “We want Santino Marella,” the former two-time Intercontinental champion responded on X [formerly known as Twitter] with, “It would be a full circle moment for sure.”

Marella’s WWE debut started on the April 16, 2007, edition of “WWE Raw” in Milan, Italy, where he was selected from the crowd by then CEO and Chairman, Vince McMahon, to compete against the unrelenting Umaga for his Intercontinental Championship. Thanks to some outside help, Marella captured the title (for the first time out of two) in his very first match, initiating his comedic in-ring tenure from 2007 through 2016.

Since his departure from WWE in 2016, Marella made several sporadic appearances for the Stamford-based promotion, with his most recent being an unsuccessfully title challenge to Ethan Page’s then North American Championship on the July 29, 2025, episode of “WWE NXT.” Now, Marella’s job is to create fascinating matchups in TNA, and be one step ahead of his new adversary in Daria Rae (former WWE star Sonya Deville), who acts as TNA’s on-screen director of operations. TNA and WWE are currently under a multi-year partnership.

As of this report, one match has officially been confirmed for the Sunday, May 31 event, with Cody Rhodes putting his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against GUNTHER.

WWE Stars To Appear At Fan Fest Announced For White House UFC Event Freedom 250

Despite being under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella alongside UFC, WWE hadn’t been involved with the MMA promotion’s upcoming Freedom 250 event, taking place on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14. That doesn’t appear to be changing with only weeks to go before the controversial show, though WWE will at least have some presence in the lead up to it.

Taking to X on Monday morning, UFC announced that tickets were now available for the UFC Freedom 250 fan fest, being held at the Ellipse in Washington D.C. The two day fan fest will begin on June 13 and conclude on June 14 with a special watch party of Freedom 250. Among the happenings at the fan fest are meet and greets with UFC stars, live panels and Q&As, the ceremonial weigh in, and a concert by Zac Brown, who will also perform the National Anthem.

WWE’s involvement in the fan fest comes from the meet and greet portion, with UFC announcing that several WWE stars would be joining UFC stars on both June 13 and 14. While UFC announced over 24 fighters for the meet and greet, no WWE names were provided, suggesting that the names had yet to be finalized.

Despite little involvement outside of the meet and greets, a WWE presence at Freedom 250 won’t be seen as that surprising, both due to their relationship with UFC and the growing association the promotion has had with Donald Trump’s Presidency. WWE chief content officer Triple H has made appearances at the White House in the last year, and has worked closely with both Trump and Secretary of Health Robert Kennedy Jr. as part of the Council of Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. Several WWE stars, including Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, attended a military rally hosted by Trump one year ago.

Santino Marella Teases Potential WWE Return For Clash In Italy

Santino Marella Teases Potential WWE Return For Clash In Italy

Santino Marella has hinted at a possible return to WWE for its upcoming Clash in Italy event, suggesting the moment would carry special personal significance.

The current TNA Wrestling Director of Authority responded to a fan on X who expressed hope that he would appear at the May 31 premium live event in Turin.

“It would be a full circle moment for sure.”

The comment references Marella’s unique WWE debut, which took place in his home country. On the April 16, 2007 episode of Raw from Milan, Vince McMahon “selected” Marella from the crowd to challenge Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship. Marella went on to win the title that night with help from Bobby Lashley, instantly establishing one of the most memorable debuts in WWE history.

Marella spent 11 years on WWE’s main roster, capturing multiple championships including two Intercontinental Titles, one United States Championship, and a WWE Tag Team Championship alongside Vladimir Kozlov. His run came to an end in 2016 due to a serious neck injury that kept him out of action for years.

Following his release, Marella opened the Battle Arts Academy in Canada and largely stepped away from in-ring competition for over a decade before resurfacing in 2023 with TNA as an on-screen authority figure.

His relationship with WWE resumed through the WWE–TNA partnership, leading to a return match in 2025 on NXT—his first WWE bout in 11 years—where he challenged Ethan Page for the NXT North American Championship. Since then, he has made several appearances on NXT television, often helping facilitate crossover moments between WWE and TNA talent.

With WWE set to host its first-ever premium live event in Italy at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, Marella’s potential involvement would bring his career full circle—from his surprise debut in Milan to a possible return on one of WWE’s biggest international stages.
