Update on WrestleMania In Ireland – Long-Term WWE Goal

WrestleMania In Ireland Viewed As Long-Term WWE Goal

The possibility of bringing WrestleMania to Ireland continues to gain attention, although a new update suggest the idea is still considered a long-term project rather than an immediate plan.

Interest in hosting WWE’s biggest annual event increased last week after Kilkenny Councillor Maurice Shortall told the Irish Mirror that Ireland is in a strong position to submit a competitive bid for WrestleMania in the future.

A new update from Fightful Select provided additional insight into how the situation is being viewed behind the scenes. According to the report, people close to the proposed project believe Ireland hosting WrestleMania is achievable if the Irish government continues positioning the country as a destination for major international sporting events.

However, there are still significant financial hurdles involved.

The report stated that Ireland would likely need to match at least the $6 million site fee paid by Las Vegas in order to seriously compete for WrestleMania hosting rights. Sources within the Irish wrestling scene reportedly view that figure as one of the biggest obstacles standing in the way of the project moving forward.

Despite those concerns, supporters of the idea reportedly believe the event could generate a massive economic boost for the country. Estimates suggest a WrestleMania event in Ireland could bring nearly €300 million into the national economy through tourism, hospitality, transportation, and related spending.

Croke Park Mentioned As Possible WrestleMania Venue

If WWE were to bring WrestleMania to Ireland, Croke Park is reportedly viewed as the most likely location for the event.

The Dublin stadium can hold more than 80,000 fans, making it one of the few venues in the country capable of hosting a show on the scale of WrestleMania.

However, Fightful noted there are still logistical concerns surrounding the venue, particularly because Croke Park does not have a roof. Irish weather conditions during WrestleMania season could potentially create complications for WWE if the event were held outdoors.

The report also addressed concerns regarding local opposition from nearby residents. Last year, there were protests connected to the NFL hosting a game at Croke Park, but those close to the WrestleMania proposal reportedly do not view that as a major issue moving forward.

Recent WrestleMania bids highlight just how competitive the process has become. Las Vegas reportedly paid a $6 million site fee to host WrestleMania 42 after previously paying $5 million for WrestleMania in 2025. Nevada tax incentives reportedly increased the overall package value to more than $10 million for 2026 and over $9 million for the previous year.

Meanwhile, Nashville has reportedly submitted a $3.5 million bid along with additional tax incentives in an effort to secure WrestleMania 44 in 2028.

Although Ireland hosting WrestleMania remains far from official, discussions surrounding the possibility continue to grow as WWE expands its international reach and governments increasingly recognize the economic impact major events can generate.

Brock Lesnar WWE Status Remains Unclear Despite Alumni Listing

Brock Lesnar WWE Status Remains Unclear Despite Alumni Listing

Questions continue to surround Brock Lesnar and his current WWE status following his apparent retirement moment at WrestleMania 42 earlier this year.

After losing to Oba Femi, Lesnar left his gloves and boots in the ring, creating the impression that “The Beast Incarnate” was officially walking away from professional wrestling. The segment immediately sparked heavy speculation among fans and within the wrestling industry about whether the match marked the end of Lesnar’s legendary career.

That speculation increased even further when WWE quietly moved Lesnar to the alumni section on WWE.com, a category generally reserved for former talent no longer considered active members of the roster.

However, a new report suggests Lesnar may still have unfinished business with WWE.

According to PWInsider, Lesnar is still internally listed within WWE as an active performer despite his placement on the alumni page. The report also noted that Lesnar is currently considered a “free agent” internally because he is not assigned to either RAW or SmackDown.

Brock Lesnar Still Internally Listed As Active

The situation has created confusion because WWE already maintains an official free agent section on its roster page. Several names not tied to a specific brand, including Omos, AJ Lee, and Paige, are listed there rather than under alumni status.

Lesnar being placed in the alumni category instead has naturally fueled more questions regarding whether WWE intentionally wants fans to believe his retirement is legitimate.

Additional details about the situation were discussed by Dave Meltzer in the April 27, 2026 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer stated that many within WWE reportedly do not believe Lesnar’s WrestleMania exit was intended to be his actual retirement.

“Most in the company believed that was not his retirement and nobody would confirm that it was a true retirement,” Meltzer wrote.

He also noted that sources within WWE reportedly instructed media members to treat the segment as a storyline angle rather than a definitive retirement announcement.

“We were outright told to treat it as an angle including from the same person who warned us to treat the first Seth Rollins injury as an angle,” Meltzer stated.

According to the report, Brock Lesnar WWE situations are often handled with extreme secrecy internally, making it difficult for many within the company to know his actual status ahead of time.

“Lesnar’s stuff by design is almost always kept secretive,” Meltzer added.

There was also reportedly a belief among some within WWE that a larger retirement moment could eventually take place at SummerSlam, especially since this year’s event is scheduled for Minneapolis, Lesnar’s home state area.

For now, WWE has not officially clarified whether Lesnar is retired, inactive, or simply taking time away from television, leaving his future with the company uncertain.

Cody Rhodes Explains Meaning Behind Triforce Logo On His Wrestling Boots

Cody Rhodes recently opened up about the meaning behind the Triforce logo he once wore on his wrestling boots, revealing it was inspired by Nintendo’s iconic The Legend of Zelda series.

Speaking with Kit Wilson on the What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Rhodes explained that the symbol’s themes of power, courage, and wisdom resonated deeply with him both personally and professionally.

“I thought the principles of the Triforce, which are power, courage, and wisdom,” Rhodes said.

He went on to break down how the trio of characters represent those ideas within the Zelda universe.

“And for those who don’t know, Princess Zelda is the wise one, obviously Link is the one who’s got the courage, and power is Ganon. They make up the three parts of the Triforce. That’s the whole deal.”

Rhodes said he connected with the symbolism because of how it reflected the mindset needed in wrestling and sports entertainment.

“And I just liked the idea of thinking and leaning toward your own wisdom, or what you’ve learned, and applying it, of being ambitious and wanting to seek or be powerful, if you can, in a world that’s competitive, of sports and sports entertainment, and then having the courage to do it.”

He also referenced the physical risks wrestlers take in pursuit of success.

“Here you are, you’re taking a dive, you bust your elbow, you’re gonna decide to take the dive the next night, and you bust your elbow even further. I thought it was just applicable.”

However, the tribute eventually caught the attention of Nintendo. Rhodes revealed the gaming giant sent him a cease and desist notice over the design, though he noted the situation was handled respectfully.

“I also got a cease and desist from Nintendo.

It was very kind. They weren’t coming after anybody. I’m not the first guy to have the Triforce.”
