At the end of this new deal Khan will have spent almost 10 years with the promotion, having first joined under Vince McMahon in August 2020. He was initially appointed President, becoming Co-CEO alongside Stephanie McMahon upon Vince’s resignation in July 2022, and then sole CEO upon his return to the company in January 2023. He was re-appointed President following the TKO merger in 2024.

Tony Khan Comments On Death Of Ted Turner, Says AEW Dynamite Will Begin With Tribute

Following the death of former WCW owner, media mogul, and founder of TNT and TBS, Ted Turner, it was announced via AEW’s social media that Wednesday’s three-hour block of “AEW Dynamite” and “AEW Collision” will be dedicated to him. During his X (formerly Twitter) livestream ahead of the show, AEW President Tony Khan revealed more about the tributes the company will be paying to the veteran of the “Monday Night Wars.” Khan said it was a very sad day in the world of TV and professional wrestling.

“The man who gave us this platform, the man who created TBS and TNT and so many great television channels and so many great concepts in the field of television, the late, great Mr. Ted Turner has passed,” Khan said. “We’ve been making some changes tonight ahead of the show… Very fittingly, we will have some words from Mr. Tony Schiavone, some heartfelt thoughts to start the show, as well as a 10-bell salute to the man who gave us this platform to have Wednesday night ‘Dynamite,’ Saturday night ‘Collision’ and all the AEW television shows from the very beginning.”

Khan has often expressed his admiration for WCW, and AEW has been compared to the company since its inception. Turner passed away at the age of 87, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday. It was Turner who signed off on Eric Bischoff’s 1995 pitch to bring “WCW Monday Nitro” to TV.

Wednesday’s edition of “Dynamite” will see AEW World Heavyweight Champion Darby Allin defend his gold against TNT Champion Kevin Knight. In his livestream, Khan also announced that Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada will defend his title against a returning Bryan Keith.

AEW Denies Negotiations With Aleister Black After Return Rumors

AEW Denies Negotiations With Aleister Black After Return Rumors

A new update has emerged regarding Aleister Black and a possible return to All Elite Wrestling following earlier reports that discussions were taking place between the two sides.

Prior to Wednesday, several reports suggested that Black was not expected to re-sign with AEW after his recent WWE release. Black previously worked in AEW from 2021 until 2025 before departing the company to return to WWE.

Earlier in the day, a report claimed Black could potentially return to AEW once his 90-day noncompete clause expires and stated that negotiations were ongoing, although no agreement had reportedly been reached.

However, Fightful Select later poured cold water on those claims.

According to Fightful, AEW quickly denied that there are currently any negotiations taking place between the company and Black. The report stated that after Fightful contacted AEW regarding the story, the promotion strongly pushed back against the idea that active talks were happening.

Despite that denial, Fightful noted there is still significant time remaining before Black’s noncompete clause expires, leaving open the possibility that discussions could eventually happen in the future.

While AEW reportedly denied active negotiations, Fightful also reiterated previous reporting that the relationship between Black and the company may not be completely damaged.

Questions surrounding a possible AEW return have continued due to rumors that circulated during Black’s previous run with the promotion. Those rumors included claims that he resisted losing matches, although many of those reports were never fully confirmed publicly.

The situation also became more complicated after at least two AEW personalities publicly suggested they would not welcome him back. MJF was among the names referenced in the report as someone who previously made comments indicating opposition to Black returning to the locker room.

Black was one of several wrestlers released by WWE following WrestleMania 42. His release came after a relatively short second stint with the company following his return from AEW in 2025.

At this stage, AEW is denying any current negotiations with Black, but with his noncompete period still ongoing, the possibility of future discussions cannot be completely ruled out.

Nick Khan Signs New WWE Contract Through 2030

Nick Khan will remain President of WWE through the end of 2030 following a new agreement disclosed in a recent TKO SEC filing.

According to the filing, Khan signed a new employment contract extending his tenure with WWE through December 31, 2030. The deal also outlines increases to his annual base salary over the course of the agreement.

Nick Khan WWE contract details

Under the terms of the contract, Khan will earn a base salary of $2 million annually through December 31, 2026. Beginning January 1, 2027, his base salary will increase to $3 million per year for the remainder of the agreement through 2030.

The filing states:

“The parties agree that the term of this Agreement and Khan’s employment hereunder is for a period commencing on the Effective Date and ending on December 31, 2030.”

The agreement also notes that if Khan continues working beyond the contract expiration date, his employment would continue on an at-will basis unless either side decides to terminate the arrangement.

Additionally, the filing states that if Khan intends to leave WWE following the expiration of the deal, he must provide at least 60 days written notice.

Regarding compensation, the filing states:

“Khan’s base salary shall be $2,000,000 per annum through December 31, 2026, and then shall be $3,000,000 per annum for the period from January 1, 2027 through the end of the Term.”

The agreement also allows for potential merit-based adjustments at WWE’s discretion and subject to approval from TKO’s Board of Directors or designated leadership.

Khan first joined WWE in August 2020 after previously working as a major media executive and sports agent. Since arriving in the company, he has played a central role in WWE’s business expansion, including major media rights agreements, international event deals, sponsorship growth, and WWE’s eventual merger into TKO Group Holdings alongside UFC.

His influence within WWE has grown significantly during the TKO era, particularly following Vince McMahon’s departure from day-to-day company leadership.

The new contract ensures Khan will remain one of WWE’s top executives through at least the end of the decade.
