AEW’s Brody King: President Trump Can ‘Go F*** Himself’

AEW’s Brody King has no time for those who feel wrestling should be separated from politics, citing President Donald Trump’s place in the WWE Hall of Fame.

While other wrestlers have seen “Let’s go…” and “We want…” chants for their name, King is better known for generating “F*** ICE” chants in AEW, having donned “Abolish ICE” shirts in response to the mass detainment and deportations under the current administration.

Some have applauded him for platforming his stance, others have called for a line between entertainment and politics. Either way, King said during STF Media’s Squared Circle Expo that he believes all art forms, including wrestling, are designed to make a statement.

“I just believe in what I think is right and wrong,” he said (h/t WrestlePurists). “I think all art forms, in its basis, are to make a statement. And whatever that is, good or bad, that is what art is for. Wrestling is an art form, and it is a way for people to express themselves. And when the masses are frustrated about something, that’s gonna come out a certain way. F*** ICE.”

He continued on the Trump paradox as it pertains to separating the sport from politics. “People want to say shut up and wrestle, don’t talk about political statements. Our President is in the WWE Hall of Fame. That’s all I gotta say. I don’t care if he wrestled or not. He can go f*** himself.”

King’s fellow AEW star MJF previously pointed to WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s appearances beside Trump at the White House during this second term. WWE’s sister promotion, UFC, will be hosted at the White House on Trump’s birthday, June 14.

WWE’s Jacob Fatu Discusses Relationship With & Match Against Roman Reigns

This upcoming Saturday, Jacob Fatu will presumably main event WWE Backlash when he goes one-on-one with Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship. It’s a position that “The Samoan Werewolf” never expected to be in, as he recently explained in an interview with ESPN’s “First Take” that he’s surprised to headline alongside his cousin despite it always being one of his goals.

“No, absolutely I didn’t, but we’re here now,” Fatu said, when asked if he could have imagined the match happening previously in his career. “This is something that I’ve been waiting for. This is something that I’ve been praying for and I wouldn’t have it no other way. I mean, man, we’re talking about the greatest of all time, Roman Reigns. So, in order to head to the top, you got to go through who’s on the top, and that’s Roman Reigns.”

Fatu continued by speaking to his relationship with Reigns before he arrived to WWE, stating that he was inspired by and respects the “OTC” even though he’s about to enter battle with him this coming weekend.

“Prior to WWE, it was somebody that I was influenced by, something that I needed,” he said. “Seeing his lifestyle, seeing everything, not saying he don’t deserve it. No, there’s a reason why he has 12 WrestleManias underneath his belt main eventing … come on, man, you’re not real family if y’all don’t fight. You know what I mean? So to bring it to a national stage to where we’re here now, man, there ain’t no other way.”

Saturday will officially mark the first time that Fatu has headlined a WWE PLE in a singles match, with all of his other appearances for the company’s major shows either being multi-man main events or midcard matches.

Former WWE Star Aleister Black Rumored To Be In Active Talks With AEW Despite Reports

Before the New Day’s Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston became the focal point of the recent newscycle surrounding WWE releases, Aleister Black was the one being discussed the most. A big part of that was due to Black’s potential future prospects elsewhere, with many wondering if a return to AEW could be possible. That was seemingly quelled, however, when a few AEW talents, including former AEW World Champion MJF, seemingly spoke out against Black coming back in, followed by reports that suggested Black wasn’t expected to be back in AEW any time soon.

And yet, one source is suggesting that a return to AEW isn’t just possible for Black, but is actively being worked on. SEScoops reports that, despite previous information suggesting otherwise, Black and AEW are in active talks for the former House of Black leader to return. A source close to the situation described the conversations between the two sides as “happening,” even with other reports suggesting otherwise, though it was noted that no agreement was in place, and terms weren’t being finalized.

A potential return for Black to AEW couldn’t happen in the immediate future regardless of negotiations, as Black remains under a 90 day noncompete clause due to his WWE release, with the earliest he could appear on AEW TV, or any other wrestling programming, being late July. If this rumor is true and Black does return to AEW once his noncompete expires, he will enter a far different AEW than the one he left in early 2025. Black’s House of Black stable has disbanded in his absence, with Buddy Matthews still on the shelf recovering from injury, while Julia Hart is now part of the Triangle of Madness, and Brody King has embarked on a successful singles and tag team run with Brodido partner Bandido.

Wrestling World Reacts To Passing Of Former WCW Owner Ted Turner

Wednesday has been a day of mourning in the wrestling world after news emerged that former WCW owner and media mogul Ted Turner had passed away at the age of 87. Though his contributions extend far beyond wrestling, Turner’s willingness to air wrestling on his TBS Superstation back in the 1970s, and his ownership of WCW, make him among the most influential wrestling figures in history. As a result, many within the business are lining up to pay their respects.

Among the first to do so was Eric Bischoff, the former WCW President who worked under Turner for several years, and who successfully pitched Turner the concept of “WCW Monday Nitro” back in 1995, launching the Monday Night Wars. Taking to X, Bischoff posted a photo of himself from an episode of “Nitro” holding a “Vince fears Ted Turner” sign, accompanied by a short but sweet tribute to his former boss.

“RIP Ted,” Bischoff tweeted. “Thank you for everything.”

Just minutes before Bischoff’s post came one from former WCW Champion Ric Flair, who posted a photo of himself with Turner from the 1980s. Flair credited Turner as the man who “created cable before cable was cool,” as well as giving opportunities to so many wrestlers such as himself. Those thoughts were echoed by WWE’s William Regal, who worked for WCW for many years as Steven Regal. In his own tweet, Regal thanked Turner for allowing him to “feed his family for six years,” and also credited Turner for securing Regal and his family green cards when they moved from the UK to the US.

Elsewhere, promotions NWA and MLW paid tribute to Turner, with the latter calling him a “tycoon and media maven,” while TNA’s Frankie Kazarian stated that pro wrestling would look vastly different had Turner not been involved in the business. Over on Bluesky, AEW/ROH commentator Ian Riccaboni also paid his respects, referring to Turner as an “visionary” who made it easier for fans to watch both wrestling and baseball.
