EVIL made his NXT debut during the April 28 episode of WWE NXT on The CW, creating a new development around the NXT Championship picture.
The segment featured Tony D’Angelo addressing potential challengers. He also focused on a mysterious box that had been delivered to him on the April 21 episode, which featured Japanese war-related symbols.
As D’Angelo spoke about the situation, the lights went out inside the WWE Performance Center. EVIL then appeared in the ring. Before revealing his face, he handed D’Angelo a cloth marked with the same symbol from the box.
The two stood face-to-face briefly before EVIL exited the ring without further confrontation. Commentary identified him by name and referenced his past as a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion. His departure from New Japan Pro-Wrestling earlier in 2026 set the stage for this appearance.
The EVIL NXT debut adds a new name to the title picture, with his actions suggesting a potential challenge for D’Angelo moving forward.
The show also introduced additional names to the brand.
The opening match saw Myles Borne defend the North American Championship against Saquon Shugars of DarkState. Borne retained the title despite outside involvement.
After the match, Tristan Angels appeared in the crowd and addressed Borne, signaling interest in the championship. As Borne reacted, Kam Hendrix made his presence felt by attacking the champion from behind.
Hendrix, also known as Anthony Luke, has previously appeared on WWE LFG on A&E and has been active on house shows and EVOLVE. His arrival adds another name to the North American Championship scene.
Angels, who began his career in 2022 and is 22 years old, continues to build momentum as a rising talent.
The EVIL NXT debut, along with the introductions of Hendrix and Angels, marks a notable shift in the roster heading into upcoming NXT programming.

–– Here is what’s in store for tonight’s show ––
Shiloh Hill vs. Ricky Saints.
NXT North American Championship: Myles Borne (c) vs. Saquon Shugars.
BirthRight vs. E.K. Prosper & Dorian Van Dux.
Lizzy Rain to debut.
Tony D’Angelo issues a challenge.
Myles Borne rolls into tonight’s episode of NXT with another title defense on his plate, just one week removed from successfully retaining the North American Championship against Dion Lennox during Week Two of the NXT Revenge special. Tonight, Borne faces another member of DarkState as he defends against Saquon Shugars. Tension between Lennox and Shugars has been bubbling for weeks, with Shugars openly frustrated that Lennox seems more focused on his own rise than the group’s success. That friction only intensified last Tuesday when Borne sent both men crashing into one another in the closing moments of his title defense. Now Shugars gets his shot — and DarkState’s internal cracks may widen even further.
After retaining the NXT Championship against now‑Raw star Ethan Page during Week One of NXT Revenge, Tony D’Angelo is set to appear tonight. D’Angelo has been champion since dethroning Joe Hendry in the Fatal Four‑Way at Stand & Deliver, and with Page now out of the picture, the question becomes: who steps up next? Tonight’s show promises the first hints at his next challenger.
Speaking of that Fatal Four‑Way, Ricky Saints returns to singles action tonight as he faces Shiloh Hill in their first televised one‑on‑one encounter. Saints attempted to help Page during the NXT Championship Match at Week One of Revenge, but Hill prevented the interference by yanking Saints off his feet with a rope from underneath the ring. With that stunt still fresh in Saints’ mind, tonight’s match carries plenty of unfinished business.
NXT Heritage Cup Champion Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo teams with Uriah Connors of BirthRight to take on EK Prosper and Dorian Van Dux. Prosper defeated Van Dux in the opening round of the WWE Speed Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament at Week One of Revenge, but the finals told a different story. Thanks to interference from BirthRight’s Arianna Grace, Lexis King defeated Prosper to become the new WWE Speed Champion at Week Two. With all four men now tangled in overlapping grudges, tonight’s tag match is set to be heated.
Additionally, Lizzy Rain — formerly known as Rayne Leverkusen — will make her official NXT television debut tonight against an opponent yet to be announced. With a new name and a clean slate, Rain looks to make an immediate impact.
With a batch of names moving up to WWE’s main roster, an influx of new ones has now flooded that of “WWE NXT.” This includes former IWGP Heavyweight Champion EVIL.
Following reports of him inking a contract with WWE, EVIL marked his WWE debut by confronting NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo on tonight’s edition of “NXT.” D’Angelo cut a promo asserting himself as the constant of WWE’s developmental brand. Furthermore, he claimed that there was no competitor tough enough to kick him off the “NXT” mountain top. Cue EVIL, who approached D’Angelo through a wave of fog and flashing lights.
Donning a heavy black robe, EVIL handed the reigning champion a shirt inscribed with Japanese text. After a brief staredown with D’Angelo, EVIL then left the ring. “NXT” commentator Vic Joseph acknowledged the 39-year-old as a “former IWGP Heavyweight Champion,” with his shirt given to D’Angelo being up for debate as a gift of “pure admiration” or “pure evil.”
Given that neither Joseph nor Booker T directly referred to EVIL by his NJPW name tonight, it is unclear which ring name he will perform under in “NXT” future appearances. EVIL left New Japan Pro-Wrestling earlier this year after his contract with the company expired. His last NJPW match came in the form of an eight-man tag action at NJPW Road To The New Beginning on January 20.
EVIL wasn’t the only talent to send a message to D’Angelo on “NXT” as former No Quarter Catch Crew member Tavion Heights attacked him from behind. English wrestler Will Kroos followed with a moonsault to the champion immediately afterward.
If there’s one man who “didn’t want none” when it came to squaring up against “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, it was James Ellsworth. Well, in the beginning. Thanks to the help from another titan in the company, former WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose (AEW’s Jon Moxley), Ellsworth carried a chip on his shoulder, when he beat Styles in three out of their four matches featured throughout “WWE SmackDown” in 2016. Although Styles took several losses, he absolutely loved their brief rivalry.
“I freaking loved it,” the former WWE Grand Slam Champion said on his “Phenomenally Retro Podcast.” “The fans were thoroughly, thoroughly entertained by that, by these matches and stuff with James Ellsworth. The pop that he got when he finally superkicks me and almost beats me, like, this is entertainment, man. This is what we do. You guys are worried about wins and losses. I’m worried about whether or not you show up at the next show…As crazy and as goofy as it was, we were putting butts in seats.”
Eventually, the glory of Ellworth’s run of beating the then WWE Champion three straight times faded in their fourth contest, as Ellworth’s “No Chin Music” superkick along with the lack of Ambrose’s assistance weren’t enough to secure a potential 4-0 undefeated streak against the now Hall of Famer. In under a minute on December 20, 2016, Styles conquered his former foe, and left him in the dust ahead of the new year.

Since the UFC was formed back in 1993, the company has traveled all over the world, but there are still some countries who have never had the octagon grace its shores. Serbia is one of those countries, but that is set to change this August when the UFC makes its debut in the European country.
🗣️ Serbia, we’re on our way!
The Octagon lands for the FIRST TIME in Belgrade on August 1! 🇷🇸

It was officially announced on the UFC’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account that the Belgrade Arena in the Serbian capital of Belgrade will play host to UFC Fight Night 282 on Saturday, August 1. Fans can register their interest now by signing up to a mailing list through the UFC’s official website, which will inform fans of when tickets go on sale for the big event. The Belgrade Arena, which can hold over 18,000 people for sporting events and over 22,000 for other special events, has held MMA and kickboxing events in the past, with promotions like K-1 holding showcases at the venue as early as 2008.
As for who to expect on the card, the UFC currently has three active Serbians on its roster. Uros Medic is currently ranked joint twelfth in the welterweight division and is one a three-fight winning streak. Dusko Todorovic won his last fight and had a bout against Donte Johnson canceled earlier this year, making him a prime candidate for the card, and Aleksandar Rakic might be on a four-fight losing streak, but he is still ranked twelfth in the light heavyweight division, and would want to get back in the win column fighting on home soil.
