Update on Roman Reigns Future Following Retirement Speculation

Update on Roman Reigns Future Following Retirement Speculation

Roman Reigns sparked strong reactions ahead of WrestleMania 42 with comments that hinted at a possible end to his run, but a new backstage report has now clarified the situation.

Reigns is scheduled to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in Las Vegas. During a recent sit-down interview with Michael Cole, he raised the stakes with direct statements about what a loss could mean.

“If I lose to CM Punk at WrestleMania, I don’t belong in the WWE anymore,” Reigns said. He followed that up with, “If I were to lose on Sunday, I’d say my work is done.”

Those remarks quickly led to retirement speculation among fans. Many began to question whether WrestleMania 42 could mark a turning point in his career. The timing of the comments, combined with the high-profile nature of the match, only added to the discussion.

However, a report from PWInsider has addressed the situation and provided a clearer picture. According to the report, the idea that Reigns’ contract is nearing its end is “not accurate.” It was also noted that if negotiations were ever needed, they would be completed without issue and well ahead of time.

This update effectively shuts down the retirement speculation that followed his interview. While WWE has not made any public statement on the matter, the backstage information indicates that there is no real uncertainty about Reigns’ future with the company.

Reigns also spoke about the upside of the match. If he defeats Punk, he plans to bring WWE back to what he considers its proper level and reset expectations. That message aligns with his long-standing claim of being the standard within the company.

The comments added drama to the WrestleMania 42 build, but the report shifts the focus back to the match itself. Instead of questions about a possible exit, attention now returns to whether Reigns can secure the victory and continue his run at the top.

Roman Reigns retirement speculation highlights how quickly a strong statement can drive conversation, even when the reality behind the scenes remains stable.

Danhausen Discusses AEW Run, Curses ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith

Danhausen Discusses AEW Run, Curses ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith

Danhausen has been active in the media ahead of WrestleMania 42, taking part in several appearances while promoting the event. The WWE Superstar has stayed in character throughout, mixing humor with insight into his career.

Among his recent appearances, Danhausen was featured in a segment involving the Goodyear Blimp, where he jokingly attempted to “curse” Las Vegas. He also made headlines with comments tied to the New York Mets. In addition, he joined Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg to discuss his past work and current run.

During the interview, Danhausen addressed how he was used in AEW. He made it clear that his in-ring time was limited, even if fans may have believed otherwise due to his online presence.

“Maybe three or four (times I wrestled in AEW). You didn’t [see much of me in AEW]. You definitely did not. You saw me online a lot. Perception is reality. Danhausen would do vlogs backstage on his own and do videos with his enemies and his friendhausens, and he’d put those out there so maybe it seemed like I was doing more than I was. I was not there. I was doing the independent scenes. That’s what I was doing. About three a weekend or doing conventions and some sort like New York Comic Con and things like that.”

Danhausen also spoke about his WWE debut and revealed that his wife played a role in the presentation. He described the entrance as fitting his unique character.

“The most Danhausen entrance, grand entrance they could have given. Get delivered like Dracula, or he got delivered like me originally, you know? And then, I’ve got all the Ghoulhausens to come out. That is great. One of them was Danhausen’s wonderful wife. Yes, I’m married, yes. Oh yeah [my wife was one of the dancers]. She coordinated all their dances. They get very evil and she did.”

In another appearance, Danhausen showed up on ESPN First Take, where he interacted with Stephen A. Smith. Staying in character, he joked about taking over the network.

“What am I doing here? Well, I’m saying hello. It’s polite to say hi and shake hands on TV. I am here to take over ESPN. It is now ESPNHausen, hosted by Danhausen. We’re on First Take. Hello, Stephen A. Smith, how are you?”

Smith responded by calling him a bad luck charm, which Danhausen quickly rejected. He insisted he brings good luck, then playfully “cursed” Smith while referencing his support for the New York Knicks before exiting the segment.

Danhausen’s appearances have helped build attention for WrestleMania 42 while giving fans a clearer look at his past experiences and creative direction.

Royce Keys Explains WWE Dark Match Run Before SmackDown Debut

Royce Keys Explains WWE Dark Match Run Before SmackDown Debut

Royce Keys used a series of dark matches to adjust to life in WWE following his Royal Rumble appearance. Before officially joining SmackDown, the former Powerhouse Hobbs spent several weeks competing in non-televised bouts to get comfortable in his new environment.

Speaking with Sam Roberts on SiriusXM, Keys revealed that the idea for the dark matches came from him. He approached Paul Levesque with the plan, and it was approved. The goal was simple. He wanted time in front of live crowds while waiting for his official television debut.

“It got under my skin for a hot second, and I had Hunter, I had Bobby Roode, and I had Cody, Randy, I have a lot of people tell me, ‘Don’t let that sh*t bother you, because they don’t know what you’re doing.’ It got out there that I did some dark matches,” Keys said. “But I asked Hunter and he agreed, if I could do these darks. Like, who wouldn’t want to wrestle in front of a live crowd, open up the show, get everybody ready, you know, get it going in two different cities a week. I did Raw and SmackDown every week until my debut.”

Keys admitted that criticism online did affect him at first. Some fans questioned why he disappeared from television after the Royal Rumble. However, several WWE veterans helped him stay focused, including Bobby Roode, Cody Rhodes, and Randy Orton. They encouraged him to ignore outside noise and trust the process.

By the time Keys made his SmackDown debut, where he defeated Berto, he felt fully prepared. The weeks of dark matches gave him confidence and helped him settle into WWE’s pace and expectations.

“I’m with it. I’m with the grind, I’ve been grinding my whole life,” Keys said. “I was totally comfortable Friday, the debut. I was comfortable. I was with it. Just like getting up, putting on your shoes, tying your shoes. Like, I was comfortable doing it.”

WWE also introduced Keys to the audience with a video package focused on his personal journey. The piece highlighted the challenges he has faced and the effort it took to reach this point. While opening up was not easy, Keys said he wanted to share his story to motivate others and show what is possible through hard work.
