AEW’s Renee Paquette Recalls When She First Fell In Love With Pro Wrestling

For more than a decade now, Renee Paquette has been one of the most popular personalities in pro wrestling, thanks to stints in both WWE and AEW as a commentator and interviewer. Paquette has been so natural in her wrestling roles that many have often wondered why she didn’t pursue more avenues outside of the wrestling business. As it turns out, that’s what she did before getting into wrestling.

On the latest of AEW’s “Who is..?” YouTube series, Paquette went through her origin story. Initially, Paquette tried to make as an actress, and even appeared in popular music videos such as Kelly Clarkson’s “Behind These Hazel Eyes,” before getting into hosting. That would then give way to her career in wrestling, and Paquette admitted that it was through that, and continuing to work in the industry, that ultimately led to her falling in love with the business.

“I fell in love with wrestling when I started working in wrestling,” Paquette said. “It was such a different perspective to cover professional wrestling and talk about wrestling on TV. But then, to actually work for a wrestling company and see, like, the belly of the beast, and see the way things worked?

“I think for me to understand and get that full respect for everybody that works in this industry, from top to tail, I think what’s really made me fall in love with it. Especially since I came from more of, like, an entertainment background. But I played a ton of sports growing up, so to see those two things come together, it’s a match made in heaven for me. I would not want to cover another sport. Like, this is the world that I’m meant to be in, and I love it. But I think it was actually doing it and getting to fall in love with it in real time.”

WWE Contacted FBI After Liv Morgan Home Scare

WWE Contacted FBI After Liv Morgan Home Scare

Liv Morgan has opened up about a frightening real life incident from last year, shedding new light on how serious the situation became and how quickly WWE stepped in behind the scenes.

In 2025, reports surfaced about a man gaining access to Morgan’s gated community and attempting to break into her home while she was away. Fortunately, Morgan was not present at the time, but the situation escalated quickly. The individual was later apprehended outside the WWE Performance Center and remains in custody as legal proceedings continue.

Speaking on the You Wish podcast with Holly Madison, Morgan detailed the unsettling encounter, revealing just how long the individual lingered around her property and how disturbing his behavior had become.

“A couple months ago, I was away for work, and when I’m gone, my mom holds down the fort. She takes care of the animals, her and my family. I guess a fan had gotten through my gated community and was like ringing my doorbell for two hours, and was surveying the property, and was trying to get into the house. He was looking under the mats for keys; this was lingering for two hours. I get home, and there was a two-page note where I feel like this man was obviously under the impression that he was talking to me or in a relationship with me. He left me this two-page letter, pretty much saying that I’m a stalker, not him. It was bizarre. No one was hurt,” Morgan said.

The situation took another turn once Morgan alerted WWE, with the company immediately escalating the matter beyond internal security concerns.

“I had to reach out to WWE like, ‘Hey, I just wanted to let you guys be aware of this, maybe we monitor coming to shows, etc., etc.’ They took it and were like, ‘No, we’re sending this to the FBI, this is not okay. This is not just like a fan visiting your house; he was outside for two hours, and he tried to break and enter.’ He got arrested the next day, and he’s been in jail. He’s been in jail since like three months and we have to go to court and this whole thing. It was pretty crazy. I’m not scared, and I feel okay. I feel for him.”

Nick Khan Reveals WWE’s Plan To Build Next Generation Of Stars

WWE leadership took a hard look at the company’s direction following WrestleMania 41, and that reflection is now shaping how the roster is being built heading into the future.“I’m high on Bron. We cannot rush it, though. Gotta sort of let him develop at his own pace.”

“I think all three of those. Oba is an obvious one. I’m high on Trick… I always look for people whose inner voice matches their outer voice… Trick Williams is Trick Williams. So I like that.”

Shawn Michaels Reveals Curt Hennig Accidentally Created The “Heartbreak Kid” Persona

Shawn Michaels Reveals Curt Hennig Accidentally Created The “Heartbreak Kid” Persona

Shawn Michaels says the “Heartbreak Kid” name wasn’t a grand creative plan but something that happened almost by accident.

Speaking with Triple H for Variety, Michaels revealed that the nickname actually came from Curt Hennig during a random moment on commentary, before eventually becoming central to his identity.

After The Rockers split, WWE initially had a very different direction in mind for Michaels. Creative pitched him as a biker style character and even wanted to rename him “The Idol,” something he quickly pushed back on.

“There was still a form of creative services… they wanted to call me the Idol first… and that just really scared me, because I didn’t want to ever stop being Shawn Michaels.”

Michaels kept the look but rejected the name, allowing the character to evolve naturally through his promos, music, and overall presentation.

The turning point came when Hennig casually dropped the phrase on commentary, planting the seed without anyone realizing what it would become.

“Hennig mentions the Heartbreak Kid during color commentary one time.”

Even Triple H admitted he never knew the origin.

“Who did it? I never knew where that came from.”

Michaels confirmed it was Hennig, noting the phrase also came from a Chris LeDoux song. At first, he wasn’t convinced the name fit the tougher image he had in mind, but it clicked unexpectedly during a promo.

“I was just doing a promo one time… and it just comes out. From that point on, it kind of stuck.”

In the end, Michaels said the character worked because it tapped into something real, even if it was only a version of himself he could bring out in front of a crowd.

“As somebody who knows me in real life, I don’t have that much coolness. For that moment… I could do it. And so it just all seemed to work.”
