Diana Hart Fires Back At Bret Hart Over SummerSlam 1992 Claims

Diana Hart has issued a lengthy and pointed response addressing comments her older brother Bret Hart has made over the years about the iconic main event of SummerSlam 1992.

That match, which saw Bret face Diana’s then-husband Davey Boy Smith, was officially named the greatest SummerSlam match of all time by WWE last year. However, Bret has long maintained in interviews and in his 2007 autobiography that he had to guide Bulldog through the bout step by step, citing concerns about his condition at the time due to drugs and/or alcohol.

In a statement shared on Tuesday, Diana strongly pushed back on those claims, questioning both their accuracy and timing.

“Bret does not present his statements as opinions; he states them as facts. That distinction matters, because many of his claims, specifically about Davey’s physical or mental state at SummerSlam’92 are simply not true. It is my opinion that Bret’s current misrepresentation of events at SS92 may be influenced by the stroke he suffered in the summer of 2002.

What cannot be ignored is the timing, that Davey died prior to that, in May 2002. There was a full decade (1992-2002) when Bret could have raised his claims directly with Davey, if they were legitimate. He never did. Not once. The absurd and hurtful accusations began after Davey was no longer alive to respond.”

Diana continued by criticizing Bret’s repeated portrayal of the match and his role in it, stating that her brother has taken sole credit while diminishing Bulldog’s contribution.

“Instead, Bret now frames, over and over, despite my appeals to him with facts, proof/records and critical reasoning to please restrain and refrain his slander, but he refuses. Bret now cites this incredible match as great solely because of his own alleged brilliance, assigning himself all credit while diminishing Davey’s invaluable role. Bret’s narrative is not supported by history, by documentation, or by what audiences can plainly see when they watch the match itself, without Bret’s overlapping slandering words.”

She also defended Bulldog’s performance on the night, pointing to his professionalism and resilience despite dealing with a serious medical condition.

“Davey’s performance shows no evidence of impairment. On the contrary, it reflects Davey’s professionalism, strength and focus-despite the FACT that he was recovering from necrotizing fasciitis, a serious and life-threatening flesh-eating infection (we have proof). Davey did not complain, seek sympathy,or disclose his condition to the public. He simply did the work. It is difficult to reconcile these FACTS with Bret’s retroactive claims, except to note a long-standing pattern of self-aggrandizement.”

Diana concluded with a more personal critique of Bret’s behavior, making it clear she believes this extends beyond just the match in question.

“IMO, and I’m very clear that this is opinion, Bret’s tendency toward ego, bullying & exaggeration predates both his stroke and the match in question. I base that on my lived experience growing up with him as my older brother and on decades of observed behaviour towards family members and colleagues. What I will not accept is history being rewritten after the fact, especially when the person, (Davey)being totally discredited is no longer alive to defend himself. Davey was so good and loyal to Bret.”

Diana was a central figure in the storyline heading into the SummerSlam 1992 main event. After Bulldog captured the Intercontinental Championship, she famously entered the ring to embrace both her husband and her brother, symbolizing unity within the Hart family.

WWE Reveals Full List Of 42 Greatest WrestleMania Moments

With WrestleMania 42 just days away, WWE has leaned into the celebration by unveiling its official ranking of the 42 greatest moments in WrestleMania history, counting down the most iconic scenes ever tied to the event.

Topping the list is the legendary moment from WrestleMania III, where Hulk Hogan body slammed Andre the Giant in one of the most replayed and talked about visuals in wrestling history. WWE is set to spotlight that moment once again during the 2026 Hall of Fame ceremony, where it will receive the Immortal Moment Award, serving as a tribute following Hogan’s passing in July 2025.

The list blends multiple eras, mixing classic moments with more recent milestones. Cody Rhodes finishing his story at WrestleMania 40 lands high on the list, alongside Steve Austin’s unforgettable submission match with Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 and Seth Rollins’ shocking Money in the Bank cash in at WrestleMania 31.

Elsewhere, fans will recognize major cultural and emotional moments such as Becky Lynch headlining and winning the first women’s WrestleMania main event, Kofi Kingston capturing the WWE Championship, and Rey Mysterio’s emotional title win honoring Eddie Guerrero.

The ranking also highlights unforgettable returns, betrayals, and career defining performances, including The Undertaker’s streak matches, Brock Lesnar ending that streak, and Shawn Michaels delivering several career defining moments across multiple WrestleManias.

From the birth of WrestleMania itself with Hulk Hogan and Mr. T, to modern era spectacles featuring names like Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, and IYO SKY, the list showcases just how much the event has evolved while continuing to deliver moments that define generations of fans.

This year’s list also serves as a contrast to a previous WWE ranking, where The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25 was named the greatest match of all time, while Hogan vs Andre only placed eighth in that specific category.

Now, attention shifts fully to WrestleMania 42, set to take place this weekend at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The two night event begins this Saturday and Sunday, with both nights starting at 6 p.m. Eastern, streaming live on ESPN in the United States and Netflix internationally.

As WWE looks ahead to another massive chapter, this countdown is a reminder of the moments that built WrestleMania into what it is today.

AEW Champ Thekla Comments On Signing New Contract

AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla has taken the promotion by storm, successfully defending the title at AEW Dynasty against Jamie Hayter this past weekend. Recently, she signed a new contract with AEW, and during the AEW Dynasty post-show media scrum, she commented on why she chose AEW over other promotions.

“Well, it’s very obvious: I’m a perfect fit for AEW. Also, the company needs me,” she proclaimed. “Nobody has ever done it like me. I’m a standout champion, so AEW is the perfect platform for me to just grow and take over the world eventually.” Thekla then asked Tony Khan if he’d agree with her, which the AEW President maintained he does, praising her rise in the promotion since her first match.

Thekla then reminisced how Hayter was the first person she ever attacked in the promotion, and that she has now come full circle since that moment and closed the chapter with her.

“There goes that, right?” she noted, before adding that she currently doesn’t have any major plans as champion and would enjoy a vacation instead, urging Khan to make it happen.

“It’s Spring Break this week, but it’s no picnic, I know you’re gonna be there and you want a vacation, but maybe stick around this week and we’ll see you at Spring Breakthrough!” Khan told her.

“No, I’m going to stick around; I’m not the champion for anything, right?” Thekla said. “I’m wearing this, I’m going to defend it, even though I say ‘I would like a vacation,’ I will be here and I’ll beat anybody’s asses!”

AEW’s Paul Wight Comments On His Health, Says He Has A Short Window Left To Wrestle

Paul “The Big Show” Wight had an impressive pro wrestling career, and while many of his peers have since retired, the veteran has competed on occasion over the years and has yet to officially hang up the boots. Wight has undergone several surgeries in the past years to address many nagging injuries, but believes he has one last run left in him.

“It’s almost been, like, a surgery every year and it’s put me so far behind the eightball,” he explained during an interview on “INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet.”

Wight added that each surgery also was accompanied by intensive rehab and recovery, which has affected his final run even more. “You know, I’m not getting any younger … Father Time’s undefeated; I’m just stubborn enough to keep sticking to it. … My main thing now is I understand there’s a short window left.”

Wight maintained that he has no delusions about his final run, and doesn’t plan to compete for championships or perform at his peak, both because he’s made peace with the reality of his age and the fact that he doesn’t need to be on TV every week to overshadow the younger generation.

“There’s nothing that I can do that’s going to make my career any bigger or better,” he pointed out. “All I can do is enjoy some of the last years that I’m under contract with AEW, and hopefully have some fun with some of the younger talent.”

The 54-year-old has already replaced both his knees and hips, and because of that alone, he admits he’ll never be the wrestler he once was. “I don’t need to be 500 lbs. anymore; I need to be about 350,” Wight added, expressing that he plans to still cut down 40 more lbs. before reaching his goal.
