Jacqueline Reflects On Wrestling First Mentality During WWE Attitude Era

Jacqueline is looking back on her career with a sense of pride and honesty, reflecting on a time in WWE when being a true in-ring competitor as a woman was far from the norm. During the Attitude Era, she stood out as someone who viewed herself as a wrestler above all else, even as the company leaned heavily into entertainment segments that didn’t always showcase that side of her.

Speaking at River City Wrestling Con during an appearance on the Going Ringside podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer opened up about balancing what she loved with what the audience wanted at the time. While she embraced the era for what it was, she made it clear her focus was always on wrestling.

“There wasn’t a lot of women back then wrestling,” Jacqueline said. “But we were out there for the fans putting on good shows, and we worked really hard to put on good shows. It was very special back then. A lot of people said they enjoy the Attitude Era. That’s where I was in, and it was just a lot of fun back then.”

She was asked directly about her memorable on-screen rivalry with Sable, particularly the widely discussed bikini contest that still gets attention today. Jacqueline didn’t shy away from addressing it, but made her stance clear about where her priorities were.

“I’m a wrestler. I was trying to wrestle, not do bikini contests,” Jacqueline said. “I mean, I look great. A lot of people told me I look great. So I was very happy about that. But everybody loves Sable. She was a fan favorite. She’s a big babyface. So yeah, it was fun.”

Despite the storyline competition between them, Jacqueline spoke highly of Sable and their time working together.

“She was a fan favorite. Everybody loves Sable,” Jacqueline said. “It was great working against her. She was very beautiful, very talented. She was a great wrestler. She was tall and she did really good in the ring.”

When it came to professionalism, Jacqueline had no hesitation in praising her former rival.

“Not at all. Very professional,” Jacqueline said. “Sable was very professional.”

Later in her run, Jacqueline found herself in a unique position, stepping into the ring with male talent and making history in the process. She recalled her Cruiserweight Championship match with Chavo Guerrero as a standout moment that capped off that chapter of her WWE career.

“I had a match against Chavo Guerrero. It was a Cruiserweight match, and I think that’s where they wrapped it up,” Jacqueline said. “Chavo is a great guy. I love working against Chavo. He’s a great wrestler. He’s real. He’s just a pro. And I beat him, one, two, three. It was just a match. It was great.”

One of the most remarkable aspects of her career is her longevity and durability. Jacqueline revealed that across three decades in the business, she never suffered a significant injury, something she credits to both discipline and good fortune.

“I was blessed. I never got hurt,” Jacqueline said. “I was in the business for like 30 years. So I’ve been blessed.”

Even today, she remains active on the convention circuit, valuing the opportunity to reconnect with both fans and fellow wrestlers who shared that journey with her.

“It’s great coming to the conventions because you can see all the wrestlers that you haven’t seen in years,” Jacqueline said. “They’re like my wrestling family. I call them my wrestling family. And it’s great seeing the fans too. They’re awesome.”

Jacqueline’s legacy continues to stand out as one of the toughest and most accomplished performers of her era, bridging the gap between entertainment and true in-ring competition at a time when that balance was rarely given to women.

Former WWE Star Rezar: ‘Unprofessional’ Incident With Wyatt Sicks Led To AOP’s Exit

It was a little over a year ago that Akem and Rezar of The Authors of Pain were let go by WWE, alongside manager Paul Ellering. And Rezar is now beginning to speak about the end of the duo’s run, including what he believes led to their departure. Appearing on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” Rezar claimed that a situation involving him, Akem, and their rivals, The Wyatt Sicks, during a match is what led to AOP getting in trouble, though Rezar believes the Wyatt Sicks were the ones actually causing issues.

“There was an incident,” Rezar said. “Very unprofessional from one of those guys. I don’t know their names, and I don’t want to go into it too deeply. But there was an incident at one of the Holiday Tours that we did. Yeah…somebody tried to switch up the match during the match.

“And you know, that’s just a no-go for me, especially if you’ve just been in the company for a little bit, and we were already there for a long time. You don’t do that. And I just had to let somebody know and that was the end of it.”

When pressed by Helwani, Rezar confirmed the issue wasn’t the unnamed Wyatt Sicks members trying to change up the finish for the match.

“It wasn’t like that,” Rezar said. “It was, certain moves that we [agree to]. Some of the guys didn’t want to take it, cause they were…we’re big guys. So if we lift you up and double spinebuster somebody five nights in a row, then the sixth night, somebody can complain about it. But don’t change it during a match.”

In Rezar’s mind, the incident, and a backstage altercation between the two sides after the match was what ultimately led to him and Akem was the catalyst for WWE releasing him. Ultimately, however, it didn’t appear he was all that bothered by WWE’s decision.

“It happened,” Rezar said. “I’m okay with it.”

Cris Cyborg Addresses PED Accusations Following Ronda Rousey Comments

Following on from Ronda Rousey’s comments on the matter, Cris Cyborg has been fielding some rather harsh questioning over her performance-enhancing drugs use in the past.

Cyborg was suspended in 2012 after testing positive for the anabolic steroid, stanozolol, following her sixteen second TKO of Hiroko Yamanaka in 2011. The result was overturned to a no-contest, Cyborg had her license suspended for the year, and was fined $2,500.

In December 2016, UFC was notified of a potential USADA violation from Cyborg. Her team argued it was in regards to a substance that helped her recover from her weight cut, and in February 2017 she was granted a retroactive therapeutic use exemption and her suspension was lifted.

She has since continued to compete in MMA and reigns as PFL’s Featherweight Champion, but Rousey had reignited their issues after calling her a “roided-up b****” in the press conference for her upcoming fight with Gina Carano.

Cyborg had responded to those comments at the time, but with the conversation continuing online she has also continued to defend herself, accusing Rousey of perpetuating hateful rhetoric and bullying.

“I served my penalty. The sport was very different then,” she wrote. “I didn’t even speak English at the time and had no idea the pills given to me in Brazil to help me lose weight couldn’t be used in the USA.”

“[Rousey] did an entire media tour trashing me and 15 years later brought my name up during her press conference for no reason other than to trash me,” she continued. “The only person still trying to penalize me is Ronda.”

Some comments had taken a more hateful turn, yielding a more impassioned response from Cyborg.

“I am a woman. Stop. These comments are the same hurtful comments Ronda has spewed my entire career. You clearly don’t understand science. 15 years of testing proves I’m a clean athlete. I remember days where my dad came home crying about people calling his daughter a man. Nobody deserves this type of bullying. Not me, not my daughter, not my dad. I served my penalty.”

Backstage Update On Hangman Adam Page Following AEW Revolution 2026 Loss

At AEW Revolution, “Hangman” Adam Page’s AEW career changed forever when he failed to capture the AEW Men’s World Championship from MJF in a Texas Death Match. That alone would’ve been a devastating loss, but it was made even worse because Page, per his own stipulation, will never be able to challenge for the championship ever again. It was a shocking sequence of events that recalled Cody Rhodes losing his right to challenge for the AEW World Title at Full Gear 2019, and left many wrestling fans wondering what would be next for Page coming out of Revolution.

For the moment, the answer appears to be a hiatus. Fightful Select reports that personnel within AEW have indicated Page is set to take some time off from the promotion. It was not specified whether Page would be making an appearance on AEW TV beforehand to discuss his loss to MJF, or if he would immediately be disappearing from television. Details were also scarce on how long Page would be out for, though sources indicated it could be anywhere between weeks and months, further describing the hiatus as “intermediate.”

Though it wasn’t outright stated, it was teased that Page would be out of action at the end of Revolution, as he was stretchered out after being strangled by MJF with a dog collar, which ultimately helped MJF secure the victory. Page is no stranger to taking time off, having missed two months in 2021 and three months in 2024. In both situations, Page reportedly took time off to spend time with his wife as she gave birth to their first and second child.
