Ariel Helwani: Ex-WWE Star Gable Steveson Signs Multi-Match Agreement With RAF

Former WWE star and Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson has signed a multi-match deal with Real American Freestyle Wrestling.

Steveson won gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in heavyweight freestyle wrestling, signing a WWE NIL deal that same year, after carving a collegiate wrestling career yielding two gold, one silver, and one bronze in the NCAA Division I Championships – winning in 2021 and 2022, finishing third in his freshman year of 2019, and returning to compete and claim silver in 2025 following his WWE departure in 2024.

And having spent his post-WWE career notching a 3-0 record in MMA and a 1-0 record in Jon Jones’ Dirty Boxing, Jones being a close friend and mentor to him, there had been some questions as to what his next steps would be.

Eric Bischoff’s Real American Freestyle then announced that Steveson had signed on to compete at RAF 09 in Dallas, Texas, on May 30. Ariel Helwani reported that Steveson had signed a multi-match deal with RAF and while his first opponent is yet to be determined, the promotion is targeting some big names to face him.

Wyatt Hendrickson, the reigning RAF Heavyweight Champion, was actually the man to end the 70-match winning streak of Steveson in the NCAA Championship final in 2025. RAF was initially scheduled to be Bahrain, but moved closer to home with the ongoing conflict within the Middle-East. As of the time of writing, nothing is further known about the RAF card and who will be involved.

Tony D’Angelo Explains NXT Absence, Reveals Personal Reset And Major Life News

Tony D’Angelo Explains NXT Absence, Reveals Personal Reset And Major Life News

Tony D’Angelo has opened up about his five-month absence from WWE NXT, making it clear that his time away had nothing to do with an injury.

Speaking on No-Contest Wrestling, D’Angelo addressed the speculation directly and explained that his break from television was part of a personal reset.

“No injury,” D’Angelo said. “It was just a bit of a reset. I will say I did have a couple of personal things that came up unexpectedly. But honestly, things happen the way they’re supposed to.”

He went on to reveal a major life development that occurred during his time away, sharing that he and his wife are expecting their first child.

“I got a reset, I kind of got a different perspective on life and work,” D’Angelo said. “In that time my wife got pregnant.”

D’Angelo described how the demanding nature of a wrestling career can create a routine that becomes all-consuming, making it easy to lose sight of life outside the business.

“You get in this bubble and you’re just so, lift, work, eat, film, you’re just doing that for so long, you kind of forget why you got into this, or that there’s life outside of this,” he explained.

The former NXT standout made it clear that he has no regrets about stepping away, noting that the time off has changed how he views both his career and his personal priorities moving forward.

“Sometimes you need a little reset, and I’m pretty thankful that I got that opportunity,” D’Angelo said. “Now I am what you see on TV. I have a whole new perspective and outlook on what I need to do to achieve my goals and take care of my family.”

D’Angelo was absent from NXT television starting in July 2025 before returning in December with a noticeably different presentation. His comeback saw him move away from the long-running “Don of NXT” persona in favor of a more grounded and authentic character.

With a renewed mindset and major changes in his personal life, D’Angelo appears focused on balancing his in-ring ambitions with his responsibilities outside of WWE.

Chelsea Green Injury Update, WWE Optimistic On Recovery Timeline

Chelsea Green Injury Update, WWE Optimistic On Recovery Timeline

An update has emerged regarding Chelsea Green following the ankle injury she suffered earlier this year.

Green was injured during the February 6 episode of WWE SmackDown in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend. Despite the setback, she has remained visible on television, continuing to appear across both WWE and AAA programming.

According to WrestleVotes Radio, WWE is optimistic that Green could be medically cleared “sooner than later.” However, it remains uncertain whether that clearance will come in time for WrestleMania 42.

The report also noted that Green has been determined to stay involved as an on-screen personality throughout her recovery. That decision has allowed her to remain a consistent presence on SmackDown while also maintaining her connection to AAA storylines during her rehabilitation.

Her most recent appearance came via video during week two of AAA Rey de Reyes, where she addressed her status in the promotion. Green claimed she is still one-half of the AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions, disputing the legitimacy of the recent title change.

According to Green, it was La Hiedra—not her—who teamed with Ethan Page in the match where they lost the titles to Mr. Iguana and Lola Vice. This claim suggests that Green still considers herself a rightful champion despite the outcome.

While her in-ring return date remains unclear, WWE’s optimism and Green’s continued on-screen involvement indicate that she is still a key part of ongoing storylines. Whether she will be fully cleared in time for WrestleMania remains to be seen.

Gunther Still Expected To Play Major Role At WrestleMania 42

Gunther Still Expected To Play Major Role At WrestleMania 42 Despite WWE Absence

Gunther is still expected to have a significant role at WrestleMania 42 despite his recent absence from WWE programming.

According to WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select, internal sources within WWE believe it would not benefit anyone for Gunther to miss the event, indicating that plans are still in place for him to be featured in a meaningful way.

Gunther has not appeared on television since a high-profile segment where he unmasked Dragon Lee, a moment that drew significant attention. His absence since then has led to speculation about his status for WrestleMania, but internally, WWE still views him as a key part of the show.

The situation surrounding his WrestleMania direction has become more complicated due to injury concerns involving Rey Mysterio. Gunther had been expected to face Mysterio at WrestleMania 42, but Mysterio is currently dealing with a rib injury, putting that match in doubt and leaving Gunther’s opponent unclear.

Despite the uncertainty, Gunther’s importance to WWE remains unquestioned. He previously held the Intercontinental Championship for a record-setting 666 days before moving into the main event scene. Since then, he has captured the World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions and established himself as one of the top stars on WWE RAW.

With WrestleMania 42 scheduled for April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium, WWE is continuing to finalize plans for one of its biggest stars. While no official announcement has been made regarding Gunther’s match, all indications point to him remaining a prominent part of the event.

WWE Bringing Saturday Night’s Main Event To MSG For Historic Live Show

WWE Bringing Saturday Night’s Main Event To MSG For Historic Live Show

WWE is set to make history this summer, as the company plans to bring Saturday Night’s Main Event to Madison Square Garden on July 18. According to WrestleVotes Radio, this will mark the first time the show is broadcast live from the iconic venue.

The event is scheduled during the same weekend as Fanatics Fest, which WWE is expected to be heavily involved in. With both events taking place in New York City, the weekend is shaping up to be one of the company’s biggest outside of WrestleMania season, offering fans multiple major attractions across a single few days.

Historically, Saturday Night’s Main Event has only been held at Madison Square Garden once before. That edition took place in August 2007, but it was taped in advance rather than airing live. As a result, the July 18 show will stand as the first live broadcast of Saturday Night’s Main Event from MSG in the history of the program.

The show itself has deep roots in WWE history. Originally airing on NBC during the 1980s and early 1990s, Saturday Night’s Main Event played a key role during the company’s boom period. In recent years, WWE has revived the concept as a special attraction, typically airing high-profile matches across NBC and Peacock.

With the prestige of Madison Square Garden and the added momentum of Fanatics Fest weekend, the upcoming event is expected to draw significant attention. The combination of a historic venue, a live broadcast milestone, and a packed weekend of WWE-related activities positions this edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event as a standout date on the 2026 calendar.
