AEW Reportedly Planning New Talent Signings Amid Free Agency Window

AEW Reportedly Planning New Talent Signings Amid Free Agency Window

AEW is expected to strengthen its roster in the coming months, with a new report pointing to incoming additions during the summer.

According to Fightful Select, the company is preparing to bring in “nationally televised talent,” though no specific names were confirmed. The report did not expand further on who could be joining or when deals may be finalized.

This update comes at a key time in the wrestling calendar. Several WWE talents released following WrestleMania 42 are still within their 90-day non-compete clauses. Once those restrictions expire later this summer, a number of recognizable names will officially become free agents, opening the door for potential moves to AEW.

Among the names that have already sparked speculation are Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. The duo, known for their long run as part of The New Day, would bring established star power and tag team experience if they were to make the jump.

Tag team wrestling could also get a boost with the possible availability of Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, collectively known as the Motor City Machine Guns. Their experience across multiple promotions and reputation for high-level in-ring work has made them a frequent topic in roster speculation.

Adding fuel to the rumors, The Young Bucks made a subtle reference to Kingston and Woods during a recent episode of Being The Elite. While speaking about the idea of fresh starts, the segment included a clear nod to The New Day’s signature phrase.

“Every day is a new day. That’s a great point. Everytime you wake up, and the next day is a new day. I’m never afraid about the new day. When a new day is coming, I’m excited,” said Matt Jackson.

The reference quickly caught attention among fans, especially given the timing with upcoming free agency decisions. While it stops short of confirming anything, it adds another layer to the ongoing speculation.

For now, AEW’s reported plans remain broad, with no official announcements made. However, the combination of expiring contracts and public teases suggests that the company could be preparing for notable roster additions in the near future.

AEW’s Mick Foley Intends To Have A Conversation With Darby Allin About Taking Risks

Mick Foley has said that he will talk to former AEW World Champion Darby Allin about taking fewer risks in the ring.

Foley, the ultimate daredevil in the squared circle, has faced the repercussions of his balls-to-the-wall, hardcore wrestling style, having dealt with several health issues as a result. Allin, like Foley, throws caution to the wind whenever he steps into the ring, which Foley believes is unnecessary.

“Yes, I will have that conversation. I didn’t think the time to have the conversation was hours before his biggest match. I’ve been told that people have had that conversation with him, and he says everybody does their best stuff on the pay-per-views. I owe it to my fans to do it on every televised event,” he said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.”

Foley stated that he only recently learned that he was one of Allin’s heroes during his younger years, recalling how he first met him when Darby was still in his teens. He also reflected on the promo he shared with Allin at Double or Nothing, claiming that everything he said was genuine and sincere.

“So, the promo I gave that genuinely seemed to fire him up was all from the heart, and they were all factual. They were all statements based in fact. But I will have that talk with him and try to find out. Like, it’s got to be another gear where you can allude to the things, give people 80% of what you usually do, knowing that the vast majority of his fans will be thankful for what he gives them, and they will understand that they might have to wait until a special event to get the, you know, the 100% Darby. But, I understand many a man has tried and failed, but I’ll give him the best advice I possibly can.”

Allin has been given the freedom to be his natural self in AEW, but there have been times when he has pushed things too far, including in Sting’s final match, where he went through glass, causing concern for AEW CEO Tony Khan.

Je’Von Evans Looks Back On His Favorite WWE Matches Since Joining Main Roster

Evans’ clash with GUNTHER took place on the November 17, 2025 edition of “Raw,” emanating from New York City’s Madison Square Garden. On that occasion, Evans and GUNTHER wrestled in the first round of the Last Time Is Now Tournament, which the latter eventually went on to win entirely.

When asked about his mental approach heading into it, especially given the physicality level of his opponent, Evans noted that he treated it like any other match in WWE.

“You just got to go out there and do it. That’s my mindset,” he said. “Hey, when they play my music, I have no choice but to go out there. I can’t be like, ‘Wait, I’m not ready yet.’ I can’t do that. It’s just one of those things like, hey, let’s go out there, let’s go kill it. You feel me? That’s very important, for sure.”

“The Ring General” defeated “The Young OG” via submission after cinching in a sleeper hold, to which Evans then tapped out. At the time, Evans was amidst the final weeks of his “WWE NXT” run, while also taking on main roster opportunities. Meanwhile, GUNTHER marked his first match since losing the World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk at WWE SummerSlam.

Sol Ruca’s First Women’s IC Title Defense Set For WWE Raw In Paris

After her crowning moment as WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Sol Ruca’s next official order of business will see her defend the title against Lyra Valkyria on Monday’s edition of “WWE Raw,” set in Paris, France. “Raw” General Manager Adam Pearce announced the title match in a video posted to X.

“Monday Night Raw comes to you live tomorrow night from one of the iconic cities of the world, Paris, France,” Pearce said. “We will have first round matches in both the King and Queen of the ring tournaments. On the men’s side, Seth Freakin Rollins takes on Je’Von Evans, Talla Tonga and Ricky Saints. On the women’s side, Seth’s better half, lesser half, other half, I’ll let you decide, Becky Lynch takes on Liv Morgan, Alexa Bliss, and quite possibly one of my favorite human beings on planet earth, Chelsea Green. Also, both Intercontinental Titles will be on the line tomorrow night as Sol Ruca defends her championship against Lyra Valkyria. Penta goes one-on-one with the legend, the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. All of that and so much more.”

Teasings of Valkyria vs. Ruca emerged last week when the former approached the latter to congratulate her on ending Becky Lynch’s title “reign of terror” at WWE Clash In Italy. Valkyria, the inaugural Women’s IC Champion, lost the title to Lynch at the 2025 Money in the Bank premium live event, then failed in her attempts to regain the title.

Valkyria’s loss to Lynch at SummerSlam 2025 specifically prevented her from challenging for the title again for as long as “The Man” remained champion. With Ruca dethroning Lynch at Clash In Italy 2026, though, Valkyria is able to pursue it once more. The June 8 edition of “Raw” will mark the first ever singles collision between Ruca and Valkyria; for Ruca, it also marks the first defense in her respective title run.

Kevin Knight Discusses His Place On The AEW Roster, Building Trust With Tony Khan

Kevin Knight has been a fighting champion since winning the TNT Championship at AEW Dynasty in April, with a handful of successful defenses under his belt. Knight is still fairly new to AEW, but he was able to settle in quickly. Speaking on The Jobber’s Tears Network, Knight discussed his place in the company and his relationship with co-owner and President Tony Khan.

“I think I’ve built that trust throughout this whole year, of being a team player,” Knight said. “[I’m] coming in there doing my job with a great attitude, and every time I’m on the screen, somebody is moving forward in whatever they do.”

Knight went on to explain the importance of a pro wrestler making their opponent look good, and the AEW star believes his ability to do that is partially why he’s been given the opportunities he has. After being featured quite prominently through his first year with AEW, Knight believes his stock will continue to rise.

“A year from now, in a perfect world, ‘The Jet’ is still on TV weekly,” Knight continued. “We could do ‘Jet Two Belts,’ ‘Jet Three Belts,’ on my Mercedes Mone type of thing, you know what I mean? We’re here for world domination. … Tony Khan is going to keep giving me these things; a winner has got to make the most of it.”

Following his heel turn at AEW Double or Nothing 2026, Knight aligned himself with The Don Callis Family on an episode of “AEW Dynamite,” seemingly setting himself up for further success in the promotion.
