Paige Shares Graphic Injury Photos Following WWE SmackDown Attack

Paige revealed graphic images and videos of a head injury suffered during Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown.

The injury occurred during a chaotic segment involving Paige, Brie Bella, Fatal Influence, and the Irresistible Forces.

The segment saw Fatal Influence and the Irresistible Forces interrupt Paige and Brie Bella before Nia Jax and Lash Legend attacked the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Rhea Ripley later made her entrance and confronted the attackers, but fans quickly noticed Paige checking the top of her head at ringside during the sequence.

Shortly afterward, footage circulated online showing visible blood coming from Paige’s head.

Paige later addressed the situation herself by posting graphic photos and videos on Instagram that revealed a deep cut near the top of her head.

The former WWE Divas Champion also referenced the apparent cause of the injury in her caption.

“Nia Jax said, ‘Welcome back bitch,’” Paige wrote.

While WWE has not officially confirmed the exact cause of the wound, the injury appeared to occur during the microphone shot delivered by Jax during the attack.

The segment immediately sparked concern among fans due to the amount of blood visible at ringside.

Paige recently returned to WWE during night one of WrestleMania 42 after replacing an injured Nikki Bella.

The returning star teamed with Brie Bella and captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in what marked Paige’s first WWE match since 2017.

Her comeback had already become one of WWE’s most talked-about returns of the year prior to Friday’s injury scare.

Backstage Hope John Cena’s WWE Backlash Announcement Is Bigger Than Club WWE

Backstage Hope John Cena’s WWE Backlash Announcement Is Bigger Than Club WWE

John Cena’s teased announcement for WWE Backlash 2026 may involve more than just the reported launch of Club WWE.

According to a new update from WrestleVotes, there was internal hope backstage at Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown that Cena’s reveal would go beyond anything tied to the rumored membership platform.

John Cena Backlash announcement

WrestleVotes stated on social media that some people within WWE are hoping the announcement is something larger than the previously reported Club WWE rollout.

“Backstage at SmackDown last night, there was some internal hope that tonight’s historic announcement from John Cena goes beyond anything Club WWE related. That said, according to one source, if that’s the direction, it’s been kept very quiet behind the scenes,” WrestleVotes wrote.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the expectation internally was for Cena’s announcement to be connected to Club WWE, a premium membership platform WWE has reportedly been developing.

The report stated WWE viewed Cena as an ideal face for the project due to his mainstream appeal and long-standing connection with fans.

However, the latest update leaves open the possibility that the announcement could involve something far more significant.

Cena has been teasing the reveal since April 23 and intensified speculation earlier this week with a promotional video filmed outside Tampa’s Benchmark International Arena, the site of Backlash.

In the video, Cena claimed the announcement would “shock the very foundation of WWE” and impact everyone from “fans to superstars” and “champions to rookies.”

Those comments immediately fueled speculation online regarding what WWE could potentially unveil during the premium live event.

While Club WWE remains the most heavily discussed possibility, WWE has reportedly managed to keep details tightly guarded internally if that is indeed the direction.

Backlash takes place tonight from Tampa and Cena is officially advertised for the show.

Paul Heyman Insists He Didn’t Know Brock Lesnar Was Retiring At WWE WrestleMania 42

WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman likes to be called many things – flattering ones, of course. But one word he refuses to be called is a liar. The former “Advocate” to Brock Lesnar remains obstinate that like everyone else at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and watching from home, he was unaware that his client was going to retire on “The Grandest Stage of Them All” this year at WrestleMania 42.

Caught off guard, Heyman told TMZ, “If I knew he was gonna retire, would I have gone on record saying he was gonna dominate for the next 15 years?”

The now “Oracle” to The Vision’s Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and Bron Breakker admitted that he cried when he saw Lesnar untie his boots and take off his fighting gloves in the center of the WrestleMania ring. But he refuses to acknowledge the critics who believe it was all an act: “I was crying. Am I that good of an actor that I can cry on cue? Not I.”

Despite speculation that Lesnar’s match against Oba Femi this past April wasn’t his last, sources for WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select have indicated that officials backstage in WWE believe oppositely, and that it was. And that the former seven-time WWE Champion will not retire from his past billed residence of Minneapolis, Minnesota, at SummerSlam in August.

Meanwhile, Heyman is getting on with his managerial duties by trying to align himself with another heavyweight in GUNTHER, as he prepared a contract for “The Ring General” to challenge the now three-time Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes for his title at Clash in Italy later this month.

WWE NXT Star Says Jelly Roll Came Up With The Name For His Finisher

North American Champion Myles Borne has impressed on the “WWE NXT” roster since his time in the No Quarter Catch Crew alongside Tavion Heights, Charlie Dempsey, and Wren Sinclair, but now that he’s on his own, he’s been making big moves. Borne won the North American title from Ethan Page in February, and has been portraying a more hardened character ever since. During an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” Borne spoke about his finisher, a jumping neck breaker, known as the Borne Again. The young star let the hosts know that it wasn’t him who came up with the name, however.

“You know who came up with that?” Borne asked. “It was actually Jelly Roll. Jelly Roll named it. Crazy. This is how you know as a lyricist, with his music, he’s so creative. We’re here training, getting him ready for his stuff. Just talked about my finisher. He goes, ‘You got a name for it?’ I said, ‘No, not yet.’ He goes, ‘Borne Again.’ I said, ‘Wow. You came up with it that fast?’ There it is. Borne Again.”

The rapper-turned-country music artist trained at the WWE Performance Center, home of “NXT” in Orlando, Florida, ahead of his in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2025. On Cody Rhodes’ “What Do You Want To Talk About?” podcast, Jelly Roll spoke about who he trained with, and gave praise to Borne, Hank & Tank, and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo.

Borne has recently been dealing with a slew of challengers for his title, and even beat Johnny Gargano at Stand & Deliver this year. Recently, he’s put his feud with DarkState seemingly to rest, defeating both Dion Lennox and Saquon Shugars.

Will Ospreay Explains What AEW & NJPW Have To Gain From Partnership

For years now, AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling have had a strong working relationship, highlighted by their annual Forbidden Show every year. That doesn’t mean the partnership hasn’t been immune to criticism at times, even from people within New Japan and AEW, with some wondering what exactly either promotion gains from working together.

In that sense, AEW star and New Japan guest star Will Ospreay has the answer. In an interview with Forbes, Ospreay highlighted two ways AEW and New Japan benefit from working together. The first is the ability for stars to work both promotions, with Ospreay pointing out that AEW talent like himself, Andrade El Idolo, and Konosuke Takeshita frequently worked New Japan shows, helping to bolster business.

The second benefit was more from an AEW perspective, with Ospreay pointing out that because of New Japan’s touring schedule, wrestlers, especially younger ones, are able to get more ring time and develop at a faster rate. Ospreay feels that would allow AEW talent to garner more experience, something that isn’t always available to them due to AEW only having a limited amount of TV time per week.

“It’s one of those things where I always feel bad for certain talent because there are so many super talented people in AEW, and we’re all fighting for four hours a week of television,” Ospreay said. “Although that seems like a lot, it really isn’t. For me, there are opportunities to send talent over to Japan to learn and assist New Japan’s house shows. I think there’s a lot of talent in AEW, but I also feel like there are a lot of people who could learn a lot more by stepping outside their comfort zone and going somewhere where you have to play as a team.”
