Tama Tonga Dealing With Undisclosed Injury

Tama Tonga Dealing With Undisclosed Injury

Tama Tonga has been absent from WWE programming, and new information clarifies the reason behind it. His absence is not connected to the recent roster cuts that took place on April 24.

According to Bryan Alvarez, Tonga is currently sidelined with an undisclosed injury. The expectation is that he will return relatively soon, though no exact timeline has been provided.

The timing of his absence created confusion among fans. WWE released 25 wrestlers on April 24, and Tonga was not seen or mentioned on that week’s SmackDown. That overlap led to speculation that he may have been part of the cuts, especially since he is involved in ongoing storylines.

Tonga last appeared on the April 17 episode of SmackDown, where he competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal ahead of WrestleMania 42 weekend. When he did not appear on the following show, it raised questions about his status.

His absence also stands out because of his role within Solo Sikoa’s faction. The group has been involved in a storyline that includes R-Truth and Damian Priest in the tag team title picture, along with tension involving Jacob Fatu.

Tonga had been expected to team with JC Cobb for a tag team title opportunity before his absence. That plan is now on hold due to his injury.

While there is still no detailed update on the nature of the injury, the report confirms that Tonga remains part of WWE and is expected back once he is cleared.

Stephanie Vaquer Dealing With Legit Injury

Stephanie Vaquer Dealing With Legit Injury

Stephanie Vaquer’s situation following WWE RAW on April 27 has taken a serious turn, as her on-screen injury angle is now believed to be based on a legit injury. The segment added another setback after her recent loss at WrestleMania 42.

According to Bryan Alvarez, Vaquer’s shoulder injury is legitimate. The report aligns with what was referenced during WWE RAW, when commentary addressed the damage following a backstage attack. During the segment, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, working alongside Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan, assaulted Vaquer backstage. The attack escalated when Perez drove an equipment box into Vaquer’s shoulder.

On commentary, Michael Cole stated that Vaquer suffered a second-degree AC sprain as a result of the incident. The injury is expected to keep her out of action for some time.

Details about when the injury first occurred remain unclear. Alvarez noted that the exact origin has not been confirmed. There is a possibility the issue existed before WWE RAW, and the backstage angle was used to explain her absence in storyline moving forward.

The timing comes at a difficult moment in her run. Vaquer had just competed at WrestleMania 42 Saturday, where she lost the Women’s World Championship to Morgan. That match was reportedly shorter than originally planned, as both competitors were dealing with physical issues heading into the event.

A second-degree AC sprain involves a partial tear of the acromioclavicular ligament in the shoulder. Recovery time can vary, but it often ranges from several weeks to a few months depending on the severity and rehabilitation process.

Vaquer’s absence leaves a gap in the Women’s division, especially after her recent title program. WWE has not confirmed a return timeline, but the injury angle on WWE RAW provides a clear storyline explanation for her time away.

WWE NXT Results 4/28 – North American Championship On The Line, Tony D’Angelo Appears & More

Welcome to Wrestling Inc.’s live coverage for “WWE NXT” on April 28, 2026, coming to you live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida!

Coming off a successful defense against Dion Lennox of DarkState at Week Two of the two week “NXT” Revenge television special last Tuesday, Myles Borne will be putting his North American Championship on the line once again tonight as he defends against Lennox’s stablemate Saquon Shugars. Tensions between Lennox and Shugars have been on the rise as the latter has voiced feeling like the former is more focused on his own career rather than DarkState, Borne sent Shugars and Lennox crashing into one another in the closing moments of his defense last Tuesday.

Tony D’Angelo retained his NXT Championship against now “Raw” star Ethan Page at Week One of “NXT” Revenge on April 14, having previously dethroned fellow “Raw” star Joe Hendry in a Fatal Four-Way Match at “NXT” Stand & Deliver on April 4 that also involved Page and Ricky Saints. Following such, D’Angelo will be making an appearance on tonight’s show as some light looks to be shed on who his next challenger will be.

Speaking of Saints, he will be competing in a match of his own as he collides with Shiloh Hill in what will mark the first televised singles match between the pair. While Saints looked to aid the aforementioned Page in his NXT Championship Match against the aforementioned D’Angelo at Week One of “NXT” Revenge, Hill ensured Saints was unable to do so by using a rope and hiding under the ring to trip Saints.

NXT Heritage Cup Champion Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo and Uriah Connors of BirthRight will be joining forces with one another to take on EK Prosper and Dorian Van Dux. Although Prosper may have bested Van Dux in a First Round Match For The WWE Speed Championship Number One Contenders Tournament at Week One of Revenge, Stacks and Connors’ stablemate Arianna Graced helped Lexis King to defeat Prosper in the finals of said tournament to become the new WWE Speed Champion at Week Two of Revenge.

Additionally, Lizzy Rain (formerly Rayne Leverkusen) will be making her debut on “NXT” television against an opponent who has yet to be named.

Backstage News On Chris Jericho’s Status For This Week’s AEW Dynamite

Former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho made his triumphant return to “AEW Dynamite” on April 1, after months of speculation about his status with the company. After a show-opening return that involved only four words, Jericho has been a consistent part of the show over the last few weeks, but according to a new report, he’s set to miss the April 29 edition of “Dynamite” from Fairfax, Virginia.

According to PWInsider, Jericho will be absent from “Dynamite” on Wednesday to film a TV project in New York City. There was no further information on what exactly Jericho would be filming.

Since his comeback, Jericho has been feuding with The Demand. He was defeated by Ricochet in his first match back at AEW Dynasty on April 12, and most recently, the stable beat Jericho and a returning Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin in trios action on the April 25 edition of “AEW Collision.”

Before his return on April 1, Jericho had been out of action for almost a year, after he dropped the ROH World Championship to Bandido at Dynasty 2025, then dropped his Learning Tree stable to “go away for awhile” on the “Dynamite” after. He had been rumored to be making a return to WWE, with his name coming up everywhere from the Royal Rumble to the “WWE Raw” Netflix anniversary show.

The upcoming episode of “Dynamite” is a packed one, with MJF set to challenge Kevin Knight for the TNT Championship. Darby Allin will also put his AEW World Championship on the line against Brody King, and Divine Dominion will defend their AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships against Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander.

Jim Ross Believes He’s Booked For Big Upcoming AEW PPV

WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW commentator, the legendary Jim Ross, wasn’t on the call for AEW Dynasty last month, but said he believes he’ll be returning to work soon for an upcoming event. On an episode of his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross said he plans to be at AEW Double or Nothing over Memorial Day weekend in Queens, New York.

“Tony Khan’s been so good… I see it all the time on social media, ‘These guys are getting paid all this money and they’re not working,'” he said. “I want to work. That’s the difference between me and a lot of people. I want to work. I gotta get steady walking and I’m not going to walk out to the ring with a walker or a cane. I’m just too damn ego-centric.”

As of this writing, the only match announced for Double or Nothing is the International Championship bout pitting Kazuchika Okada against Konosuke Takeshita. Ross said that’s one of the things he’s looking forward to most about the show, and said it will be, “a banger.”

“That’ll be a hell of a match, there’s no doubt about it,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the venue. It’s new. It’s different. We’ve never played it before, so I’m looking forward to that a lot. But, that one match… there’s no reason it shouldn’t be a classic… Golly, man, those two guys. There’s a history behind [them], growing up as wrestling fans and being aware of the other guy when they were in their developmental stage, is compelling to me.”

Ross has dealt with a series of health issues over the years. At the beginning of the year, he suffered a serious fall.
