WWE NXT Viewership & Ratings Report: 4/21/2026

This past Tuesday, the second week of “WWE NXT: Revenge” took place, which featured several title bouts, a Casket Match and Last Woman Standing Match to end two major women’s storylines on the brand. However, the stacked card didn’t seem to move the needle when it came to “NXT’s” viewership numbers, but the program did see some success with its younger audience compared to the previous week.

According to Wrestlenomics and Programming Insider, “NXT” averaged 591,000 viewers and posted a 0.09 in the key 18-49 demographic. When comparing both categories to the week prior, total viewership only increased by 1%, but the same cannot be said for the 18-49 demo, which was up by 11%. Additionally, “NXT” was able to maintain its audience despite going head-to-head with stiff competition, with several games from the NHL and NBA playoffs taking place during the same timeslot, most of which pulled in above the seven figure viewer mark. This past Tuesday also marks “NXT’s” second highest viewership figure over the last two months.

Although “NXT” was able to post strong numbers on a tough night of sports competition, the program’s numbers continue to suffer compared to this time last year, with total viewership declining by 12% since last spring. In addition, the show’s performance in the 18-49 demo has been more concerning, with the category being down by 44% since April 2025. Overall, “NXT’s” viewership numbers have minimally decreased since the beginning of the year, but with many of the brands’ stars set to be officially called up to the main roster, such as Sol Ruca, Ethan Page, and Joe Hendry, it remains to be seen if the program’s ratings take a hit with the departure of its top talent.

AEW’s Jamie Hayter Comments On Reported Injury: ‘No Big Deal’

Jamie Hayter hasn’t been seen in AEW since being defeated by Thekla at AEW Dynasty 2026, with “The Toxic Spider” retaining the AEW Women’s World Championship in the process. The hard-hitting match caused Hayter to not be medically cleared for the episodes of “AEW Dynamite” and “AEW Collision” in the following weeks, something that has worried some fans as Hayter has had lengthy periods away from the ring due to injuries.

However, the former AEW Women’s World Champion took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to correct the rumors that she is still injured, stating that she will be fine in the next week or two.

In the weeks Hayter has been away from the ring, her tag team partner in The Brawling Birds, Alex Windsor, has stepped up to the plate to fight Thekla in Hayter’s absence. Windsor unsuccessfully challenged “The Toxic Spider” for the AEW Women’s World Championship on the April 16 episode of “Collision,” but has since been helped out by some backup in the form of the CMLL World Women’s Champion Persephone. Windsor and Persephone will face Thekla and Skye Blue on the April 25 episode of “Collision” in a match that could have some implications on the AEW Women’s World Championship picture heading into Double or Nothing on May 24.

As for Hayter, she should be back before Double or Nothing as she still has eyes on the title she lost at the 2023 edition of Double or Nothing. The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament is also coming up in the near future to determine who will challenge the champion at All In London at Wembley Stadium, a venue Hayter has not yet wrestled at as she has always missed AEW’s annual August trip to London due to various injuries. Hayter did appear at All In London 2024, but that was to mark her return to the company after 15 months on the shelf.

WWE’s GUNTHER Says American Wrestlers Are ‘Softer’ Than European Counterparts

Before GUNTHER became one of the most dominant stars in WWE today, he took the independent wrestling scene in Europe by storm where he earned his reputation of being one of the best bell-to-bell performers in the industry. However, after having been a main roster WWE competitor for the past four years, “The Ring General” has his personal thoughts on the differences between wrestling on the indies, and competing on national television.

During an appearance on the “Club 520 Podcast,” GUNTHER revealed who he considers to be the most challenging opponent of his career, but followed up his comments with his opinion on American wrestling compared to the European style.

“I think physicality wise, I would say Sheamus. I would say for sure. He really pushed me and to be honest, I would say most of the American guys are a bit softer than the European wrestlers, not in a negative way, like style-wise. Our trainers just beat us up for the first year in training and you kind of get used to it. It’s a different style over here … It’s everything around the characters and the engagement with the audience and the moments and all of that. There’s really not much of a focus on that at home. Which I also understand that, like don’t get me wrong, this is the WWE style, like the American sports entertainment style. That’s way more successful than the basic plain pro wrestling.”

GUNTHER continued to explain that the European style requires a fan to be patient as matches are built at a slower pace, compared to American TV where the action needs to be quick and fresh.

Breaking Down The Belts: Paige And Brie Bella’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss deserve another run with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships before they inevitably go their separate ways into singles competition. This partnership has been the best thing for Flair’s character in years, and it was a much-needed refresher for her, so they should hold the tag gold one final time, at least.

Nikki could cost Paige and Brie their match for the titles against Bliss and Flair, and the new champions could reign while the Bellas’ storyline unfolds and they get back together as a heel team. The Bellas then winning the gold from Flair and Bliss could then send the babyface team into a breakup angle. Though the breakup may not need to be a dramatic story, it could certainly be an interesting angle that’s always much-needed on “WWE SmackDown.”

Outside of the tag title picture, after they lose to the Bellas, Bliss could go for the Women’s United States Championship, with Flair on the verge of a crash out, but perhaps keeping it together when Bliss actually does win the gold, proving she really has changed. The “will they, won’t they” dramatic breakup angle could conclude in a positive way, which would only continue to be good for Flair’s character.

No matter who will or who should win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships next from Brie and Paige, that team’s fate seems set before their reign even begins. The Bellas Twins will get their tag title reign after Nikki is cleared and kicks Paige to the curb, with their big moment of capturing the gold perhaps taking place at SummerSlam.

Update On TNA Star Steve Maclin Following Concussion

Steve Maclin can return to his “Front Toward Enemy” persona, as the inaugural and former two-time TNA International Champion has been cleared to return to in-ring action, according to this week’s report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Last month, Maclin was set to face current TNA World Champion Mike Santana for the championship at Sacrifice. However, the match came to a sudden halt, when Maclin took a kick to the jaw, sending him towards the ropes and onto the mat outside of the ring. Officials ruled the match a no-contest. After the incident, Maclin was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was evaluated and cleared of all concussion tests. TNA President Carlos Silva and Santana commended everyone involved during the main event, including referee Alice Lane and Eddie Edwards, who were awarded for their efforts during that difficult moment.

Prior to Maclin’s medical scare, his on-screen storyline saw him go from being a full-time competitor to being “fired” after obtaining one out of the four briefcases in the Feast or Fired match. Upset by Santana’s wholesome remarks on what was supposed to be his departure, Maclin marched back in TNA and demanded his shot at the world title. As of this report, it’s unclear if Maclin will receive another shot at the world championship soon. TNA’s next pay-per-view event, Slammiversary, will be held on Sunday, June 28, at Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts.
