Bully Ray Says Tony Khan’s Booking Of AEW Title Change Reminds Him Of Paul Heyman

Darby Allin shockingly defeated MJF on the “AEW Dynamite” after Dynasty, a decision Bully Ray says reminds him of Paul Heyman’s booking.

Ray began by saying on “Busted Open” that the majority of AEW fans on social media were unhappy with MJF losing the title to Darby Allin, but praised Tony Khan for sticking to his guns and pulling the trigger on the decision.

“We don’t know how long the chatter [negative fan reaction] is going to last. We don’t know if taking the strap off of Max at this moment in time [is a good decision], when the AEW ratings are higher than they’ve been in forever. We don’t know. But I can say this, Tony Khan, I applaud you. Great job, Tony. You got balls. He said earlier in the week in an interview that he was going with his gut. He goes with his instincts. It’s a one-man creative show. And I’m cool with that. I’d rather a one-man creative than a multi-team creative. And Tony pulled the trigger last night. And we are talking about it today,” said Ray.

Ray compared the decision by Khan to something his former ECW boss and WWE Hall of Famer, Paul Heyman, would’ve done, asserting how AEW will gain and lose by Khan’s ideas.

“It’s a very Paul Heyman-esque way of doing things, the way Paul did in ECW. We’re going to live, and we’re going to die by the ideas that come out of my head and that you guys execute in the ring,” he said.

The WWE Hall of Famer, though, pointed out a few flaws in the story between Allin and MJF on “AEW Dynamite,” arguing that MJF’s shoulders were up when he was pinned, while he also questioned how MJF didn’t know that the match would happen when it was announced at the Dynasty pay-per-view.

Backstage Report On Brock Lesnar’s WWE Retirement Status & Oba Femi Feud

Brock Lesnar might not be retired just yet.

During Night Two of WWE WrestleMania 42, Oba Femi essentially squashed Lesnar in a five-minute bout. Before fans had a chance to process what they just saw, Lesnar seemingly retired as he emotionally left his boots and gloves in the ring before walking up the ramp. A career montage video package aired during “Raw” and WWE is selling three “Thank You Brock” t-shirts.

However, according to Dave Meltzer on “Wrestling Observer Radio,” the belief backstage is that Lesnar has not retired yet, although he is expected to retire at some point this year. There have been rumors swirling for months that Lesnar was going to retire at SummerSlam since it’s in his hometown of Minneapolis, and Meltzer said that remains the expectation from most.

Co-host Bryan Alvarez countered that Lesnar’s retirement seemed surprising and unplanned, pointing out the fact that the video package on “Raw” seemed hastily put together because they included clips from old documentaries.

“It really came across like he did something people weren’t expecting,” Alvarez said.

Meltzer also said that a longer feud between Lesnar and Femi was the plan at one point, but that idea was dropped well before WrestleMania.

Former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett Comments On Company’s TV Deal

The National Wrestling Alliance, better known as the NWA, announced a new television deal during this year’s NWA Crockett Cup with none other than Sinclair Broadcast Group, which formerly owned and aired Ring of Honor, to broadcast the weekly “NWA Powerrr” on Comet TV.

Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett commented on the deal during an episode of his “My World with Jeff Jarrett” podcast, expressing what he believes this adds to the pro wrestling industry. “It’s another global distributed, weekly, episodic brand; I think congrats to Billy Corgan, congrats to NWA, congrats to the talent,” Jarrett said. “I think it’s healthy to the industry; I do. Another place for the guys to work consistently.”

NWA is coming off a previous broadcast deal with Roku, which aired “NWA Powerrr” on Tuesday nights, against “WWE NXT.” Back in 2025, NWA owner Billy Corgan recalled that the contract took 6-9 months to put together, and was the first major deal for NWA since their days as NWA-TNA, but evidently the deal lasted less than one calendar year.

Previously, NWA had an agreement with The CW to stream “Powerrr” on its app, but the broadcaster ultimately opted for WWE’s “NXT” instead. At the time of writing, it’s unclear whether or not “NWA Powerrr” will continue to go head-to-head with “NXT” on Tuesdays in order to continue this streaming feud, or if they’ll pick another day of the week not already occupied by WWE or AEW programming.

Rhea Ripley Says WWE Is ‘Not The Same’ Without This In-Ring Rival

It’s rare to hear pro wrestlers praise their fiercest rivals, but Rhea Ripley has bucked the trend with her recent comments about her former WrestleMania opponent, Bianca Belair.

Ripley and Belair’s rivalry has spanned several years, beginning during their time in “WWE NXT,” when they were both young wrestlers aiming to make it to the big leagues, to eventually wrestling each other at WrestleMania. A few days before WrestleMania 42, Ripley spoke to “SHAK Wrestling” about Belair and how WWE doesn’t feel the same without her presence.

“It’s not the same. It’s honestly not the same without Bianca there. I miss her. I hope that she comes back soon, but at the same time I also hope she’s living her best life not having to go to work for a little bit. Yeah, like she’s busted her a*s for so long. They’ve literally made her do so much and work so much. She deserves the time off. I wish it was under a better circumstance because that finger be looking nasty,” she said.

Belair has been out of action due to a finger injury, which she sustained at WrestleMania 41 in her match with Ripley and IYO Sky. Ripley said that Belair has shown her photos of her injured finger, which doesn’t look great. However, she hopes to see her back soon, but only after she has fully recovered, as she risks breaking it again if it hasn’t completely healed.

“Like, it’s shocked me that she’s been out for nearly a year from a finger injury. Something that seems so small is something that’s so big,” she said. “And she’s doing rehab every single day and I’m looking forward to the day that she does come back, but I don’t know how long that’s going to be  unfortunately ’cause you need your finger to bend in wrestling, otherwise you’re going to break it again.”

It may be a little while before Ripley and Belair can face off in a WWE ring as the latter announced at WrestleMania 42 that she is pregnant.

Randy Orton Claims Ted DiBiase Jr Owes Him $25,000

WWE veteran Randy Orton has cast a shadow over the return of a former protégé. Ted DiBiase Jr., who has remained largely out of the public eye while navigating a high profile federal legal battle, chose the festive atmosphere of Las Vegas to make a rare public appearance. While many fans expected a sentimental reunion for the former members of the “Legacy” faction, Orton took the opportunity to address a long standing personal grievance instead.
