Bron Breakker’s Spear Helps Gunther Defeat Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 42 Saturday

Seth Rollins once again delivered on the grandest stage of them all, producing a standout performance against Gunther at WrestleMania 42 Saturday in what many are already calling a modern classic, until a shocking interference from Bron Breakker changed the outcome and handed The Ring General a decisive victory.

The match was built around a simple but powerful premise: determining which of two former WWE World Champions could claim supremacy as the defining wrestler of their generation. From the opening moments, both men treated the bout with a level of intensity that matched the stakes, delivering a physical, emotionally charged contest that lived up to its billing.

Before the bell had even fully settled the arena, the tension boiled over.

Gunther immediately attacked Rollins as he stepped into the ring area, launching a pre-match assault that set the tone. The Ring General wasted no time driving Rollins into the mat with a thunderous powerbomb before dumping him to the outside. However, Rollins quickly recovered and responded in kind, showing the resilience and urgency that has defined his WrestleMania legacy.

Once officially underway, the match became a showcase of contrasting styles, Gunther’s overwhelming brutality versus Rollins’ speed, creativity, and explosiveness.

After an early exchange of stiff strikes and chops, Gunther attempted to slow the pace by locking in his signature sleeper hold. Rollins, however, refused to fade. What followed was a relentless offensive surge from The Visionary, who threw nearly everything in his arsenal at the Austrian powerhouse, including rapid-fire chops, a Buckle Bomb, a Superplex, a Falcon Arrow, and even his own sleeper attempt in a rare display of grit and adaptation.

Yet none of it was enough to keep Gunther down.

The match escalated into a punishing war of attrition as both men traded control repeatedly. Rollins built momentum with high-risk offense, including multiple suicide dives that wiped Gunther out at ringside. Attempting a third, Rollins was caught mid-air and brutally punished, Gunther countering with a devastating powerbomb onto the apron, followed by an even more destructive powerbomb onto the announce table.

In a shocking escalation, Gunther then attempted a third powerbomb through the commentary table, but Rollins reversed the momentum mid-sequence, countering into a Pedigree on the table surface to stun the champion and swing control back in his favor.

Rollins immediately followed with a Stomp, seemingly positioning himself for a major WrestleMania victory.

But at that exact moment, the match took a dramatic turn.

Bron Breakker suddenly emerged and sprinted to the ring, delivering a devastating spear that cut Rollins in half and left him motionless. The interference shifted the entire outcome in an instant and marked Breakker’s first major impact on a WrestleMania stage in explosive fashion.

With Rollins incapacitated, Gunther capitalized immediately. The Ring General dragged The Visionary back into the ring and locked in his signature sleeper hold with precision and control. With nowhere to escape and no chance to recover, Rollins faded and was rendered unconscious.

Winner: Gunther

The victory marks Gunther’s first WrestleMania win since 2023 and reestablishes his dominance on WWE’s biggest stage. However, the post-match implications were just as significant, as Bron Breakker’s shocking involvement suggests a potential new alliance, or a dangerous new rivalry emerging in the aftermath of WrestleMania 42.

Becky Lynch Defeats AJ Lee to Regain Women’s IC Title at WrestleMania 42 Saturday

Becky Lynch finally overcame what had become a long-standing “AJ Lee hoodoo” at WrestleMania 42 Saturday, defeating AJ Lee to capture the Women’s Intercontinental Championship for a third time in her career.

In a highly competitive and emotionally charged rematch, Lynch was determined to solve the puzzle that had repeatedly cost her against the reigning champion. AJ Lee entered the bout with momentum and confidence, but Becky showed from the opening bell that she was willing to bend every rule necessary to change her fortune.

Early in the match, Lynch attempted to gain an illegal advantage by exposing one of the turnbuckles. However, referee Jessica Carr remained alert, immediately restoring the pad and halting the tactic. The intervention sparked an early and heated exchange between Lynch and Carr, setting the tone for the rest of the contest.

Inside the ring, AJ Lee initially dictated the pace with her trademark speed and technical precision. However, Lynch repeatedly found ways to counter Lee’s submission attempts. At one key moment, AJ tried to lock in the Black Widow, only for Becky to power out and drive the champion hard into the corner before delivering a Manhandle Slam that came within milliseconds of ending the match.

Frustration began to build for Lynch after multiple near falls, and she once again clashed with referee Carr, getting in the official’s face. This time, Carr refused to back down and physically shoved Lynch away, drawing a strong reaction from the crowd.

AJ Lee immediately capitalized on the distraction, catching Lynch off guard and hitting a Manhandle Slam of her own. The challenger survived the shock near fall, kicking out just in time to keep her title hopes alive.

Lee then successfully locked in the Black Widow submission hold in a critical turning point of the match. It appeared as though Lynch might be forced to tap out for a fourth time in their rivalry, but Becky managed to survive by pulling AJ’s hair and forcing her way to the ropes to break the hold.

Sensing urgency, Lynch returned to earlier tactics and again exposed the turnbuckle, this time more deliberately. As AJ charged forward, Becky used referee Jessica Carr as an unintentional shield, pulling the official into the line of fire. The collision momentarily stunned Carr and disrupted AJ’s momentum.

Lynch seized the opportunity instantly.

She drove AJ Lee head-first into the exposed turnbuckle and followed up with another devastating Manhandle Slam. This time, there was no escape. Lynch covered the champion as Carr recovered just enough to make the count.

Winner and NEW Women’s Intercontinental Champion: Becky Lynch

With the victory, Becky Lynch captured her third reign as Women’s Intercontinental Champion and finally ended AJ Lee’s psychological dominance over her in their rivalry. AJ Lee’s title reign concludes at 50 days, having won the championship at Elimination Chamber in Chicago on February 28, 2026.

For Lynch, WrestleMania 42 marks not only another championship milestone, but also a defining moment of redemption against an opponent who had long remained her greatest obstacle.

Paige Returns at WrestleMania Saturday; Wins Women’s Tag Team Title With Brie Bella

Paige made a triumphant and highly emotional return to WWE at WrestleMania 42 Saturday, capturing the Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Brie Bella in a dramatic Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Match.

The championship contest already featured star power with reigning champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend defending against Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, as well as Lyra Valkyria and Bayley. However, the biggest story of the match came before the opening bell ever rang.

The Bella Twins made their entrance to a loud ovation, but the mood quickly shifted when Nikki Bella entered using a crutch. Once inside the ring, Nikki revealed that she had not been medically cleared to compete despite doing everything possible to be ready for WrestleMania.

Nikki then told the crowd she refused to let her sister Brie lose her WrestleMania moment and announced she had called an old friend to take her place.

That friend was Paige.

Her music immediately hit and the stadium erupted. The former WWE Divas Champion received one of the loudest reactions of the night as she made her first WWE appearance in nearly four years. Looking sharp and confident, Paige marched to the ring and embraced Brie before officially entering the championship match.

Paige last appeared for WWE in the summer of 2022 before departing the company. She later joined AEW and remained there until her exit in March 2025. Her return at WrestleMania instantly became one of the most talked-about moments of the weekend.

Once the match began, the action moved at a frantic pace with four teams competing under first-fall-wins rules. The reigning champions, Nia Jax and Lash Legend, were early standouts due to their size and power, with Legend especially turning heads through several dominant sequences that neutralized multiple opponents at once.

Despite the physical presence of the champions, the spotlight continually returned to Paige.

The English star looked comfortable from the moment she entered the match, displaying little ring rust while firing off a string of signature offense. She delivered multiple suplexes, struck opponents with sharp knee attacks, and reminded fans of the aggression that once made her one of WWE’s defining women’s division stars.

One of the match’s most memorable moments came when Paige stood face-to-face with former rival Charlotte Flair. The crowd roared as two key figures of different eras in WWE’s women’s division exchanged offense in the center of the ring. Charlotte briefly gained the upper hand, using her veteran poise to slow Paige’s momentum.

Flair and Alexa Bliss then looked poised to finish the match. Charlotte created an opening and Bliss climbed to the top rope, preparing to hit Twisted Bliss.

Before she could launch cleanly, Nikki Bella inserted herself into the action from ringside. Still wielding her crutch, Nikki pulled Charlotte Flair out of the ring and struck her repeatedly, taking The Queen out of the equation.

The distraction proved costly for Bliss.

Alexa attempted Twisted Bliss anyway, but Paige had it scouted. She got her knees up to block the impact, then immediately rose and connected with the Paige Turner. Paige hooked the leg for the decisive three-count, securing the victory and the Women’s Tag Team Championship for herself and Brie Bella.

Winners and NEW Women’s Tag Team Champions: Brie Bella & Paige

Following the match, Paige celebrated in the ring alongside Brie and Nikki Bella as the crowd showered the trio with cheers. For Paige, it was a stunning comeback story, returning on the grandest stage in WWE and leaving WrestleMania as a champion once again.

Paige & Brie Bella Capture Women’s Tag Team Title With Shock WWE WrestleMania Win

Brie Bella and Page defeated Irresistible Forces, Bayley & Lyra Valkyria, and Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss to win the Women’s Tag Team Championships during Night One of WrestleMania 42.

During The Bellas entrance, Nikki was walking with a crutch. She said she called in an old friend since she wasn’t cleared. Paige came out and walked down the ramp with Brie.

Brie was kept from tagging in Paige twice. Legend with an avalanche superplex on Bliss and Valkyria. Brie followed with a missile dropkick from the turnbuckle. Paige finally tagged in and went straight for Jax before taking down Bayley and Flair. She followed with knees to Legend while holding her over the rope and landed a crossbody on Valkyria, but was caught. Paige countered Nightwing with Paige Turner. Legend landed Lash Extension on Valkyria. Paige worked with her former tag team partner, Flair to clear the ring. They circle the ring and smile before exchanging blows. Flair went for Figure Eight, but Paige rolled her up. Flair connected with Natural Selection. Bliss went up top as Brie pulled Flair out and Nikki hit her repeatedly with her crutch. Bliss went for Twisted Bliss, but Paige got her knees up. Paige connected with the DDT for the win.

Nikki injured her ankle during a tag match against Flair and Bliss. Following the match, Irresistible Forces got involved. Medical personnel were seen checking on Nikki while everyone else celebrated in the ring. There is no timetable for a return to the ring for Nikki.

Paige Steps In For Nikki Bella To Make In-Ring Return At WWE WrestleMania 42

After reports emerged earlier in the week, Paige officially made her return to WWE at WrestleMania 42 to take the place of the injured Nikki Bella. Paige returned to tag with Brie Bella in the four-way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, a bout she and Brie ended up winning.

As the Bella Twins’ music hit, Nikki came out on a crutch to confirm that she was not medically cleared after suffering an ankle injury on an episode of “WWE SmackDown.” She said she wasn’t going to ruin her sister’s WrestleMania moment, however, and confirmed she “called an old friend,” bringing out Paige.

On Friday, PWInsider reported that the former Saraya in AEW was headed back to the company. BodySlam+ confirmed PWI’s report that Paige had inked a new deal, also reporting it was for multiple years.

Paige suffered what was then believed to be a career-ending neck injury in WWE in 2017, but stayed with the company until summer 2022, despite not being able to get medically cleared by WWE doctors. She signed with AEW in September 2022 and got physical for the first time in years that October. She went on to confirm she was medically cleared and won the AEW Women’s Championship at Wembley Stadium in August 2023.

She departed Tony Khan’s company in March 2025 to focus on projects outside of wrestling. After a few months, however, the former AEW Women’s and WWE Divas champion spoke about getting the itch to wrestle once again, and resumed her in-ring training in early 2026.
